Everyone has their opinions just wondering what the majority think...
Do you think the show has got to big and needs to move the evening outdoors into the main arena?
Whats pdo people think??

We never Melted when ts rained at PUK, so much better outside and everyone can watch, without A) Feeling like you are going to pass out due to the lights and heat B) Crammed in like cattle C) being able to sit and watch - not all of us cant stand for hours D) our other favorite four legged freinds (dogs) are allowed to sit and watch too

NEW LICENSING LAW Under the Licensing Act 2003, which came into effect 25th November 2005, the entire area of the East of England Showground is now licensed under Peterborough City Council as "a premisis", which is advantageous to Event Organisers in considering the East of England Showground as a prospective venue, as we are covered under the license to hold any type of event, indoor or out.
This conmment taken from E of E website was posted on the Equifest Page on Facebook and promptly removed - i wonder why !!!

There also seems to be more atmosphere when it is outside... There is so much more room to ride and you can get a good gallop in to get the crowd going! The only good thing about being indoors is the ground! Whilst we don't mind a bit of rain ponies skidding around is never good! This year it wouldn't have been so bad though and it was awfully warm in the arena!... I have not been back to Peterborough since ponies (Uk) were there so it was quite sad to walk past the main outdoor arena it just didn't feel the same! Don't get me wrong I do love a good indoor EP as the lights are always good it just needs to be bigger!!

I have been to Equifest every year since 2008 and I love the indoor evening performances but please please please may we have some variety as it seemed that the same plaiteds/horses were conmpeting in the indoor eves night after night yet hardly any m&m's and some of the working hunters were excluded from the supreme worker championship to resolve this and have a cross-section of 'types', imo it would be ideal to have the top ten from each of the Equifest championship classes for which you have to qualify to enter, in the evening performances

Agree with Bigmama-top 10 from all the Equifest championships would be much better than the present classes. Some of the classes that have top 10 going into evening performance had less than 10 entries so guaranteed to get into the EP. Needs a change and yes agree with others that it was that warm in the Equifest arena that we gave up watching after 2 nights as it was unbearable. Would love to see the outdoor grandstand full like it was when Ponies UK had there EP outdoors-fabulous atmosphere and sadly missed by lots.

I just can't get my head around outdoor EP's Have only ever done indoor ones so can't knock an outdoor one as never seen or done one but everyone who's done one in the main ring at EofE seems to rave about it.

This poll is irrelevant as Jon P has already said that they are not allowed to do the evening performance outside due to the surrounding houses and the sound issues.

Im not bothered either way when weather good ,but in view of the very hot weather we had it was very hot inside but i would rather that than get wet through if weather was reversed and e had really bad rain ,also in view of the terrible biting insects at this years show i would rather be indoors away from those as im sure would the horses too ,I would also really like to see a more cross section of classes being able to go forward to the evening seemed to be the same sections every night but love the show x

The show ground was huge years ago with no near by houses, in puks heyday many moons ago the noise diodnt matter. I only attended one evening performane on the quieter wednesday, i cannot stand for long due to my back and my mother is disabled. I would love to attend every evening and spend my money in the bar etc but until they sort the seating i cant. They have said extra seating will to too expensive may be every one could pay an extra £5 on top of enteries like first aid to pay for it??? Might make it even more crowed inside though?

Personally I don't think the atmosphere would be the same outside!! The evening performance is one of my favourite things about equifest!

My daughter qualified for one of the supremes that was in the evening performance. Having watched Wednesday and Thursday's performances we made the decision not to let her go in. This was upsetting for my 12 year old daughter as isn't this why we do what we do? Her pony is only 5 and would of been their very first time together in that atmosphere. But in our opinion we thought the ring was way to small and had seen incidents on the previous to nights. Equifest has grown enormously over the few years it has been going and in our opinion moving the performance outdoors would be more beneficial. Although I am biased!

I don't think the indoor is too small at all, or the show getting too big. I was in the evening performance on 2 nights & the first time we went in I thought it would be too small as my fell really covers the ground so I was a bit unsure. When you're actually in the ring it is no where near as small & buzzy as it seems from the side lines! When you're stood/sat watching it looks really daunting for the ponies with all the lights, people, music, & the atmosphere in general, but it was actually really pleasent to ride round in there!

I didnt get into the evening but did the cobs training class on the Wednesday and was quite pleasantly surprised how big it rode in the indoor arena. There were about 18 in out class and I thought it would be very tight but even on my very very novice boy I was able to find plenty of space quite easily and didnt have any problems with the number of horses in there. The size is very misleading from the outside.

Surely its worth a trial run?? I understand the pro's and con's for both arena's. But having done evening performances in both of them, I much prefer the outdoor arena!

In my opinion I much prefer the outdoor arena I think there would be more atmosphere, space and people would actually be able to watch, I dislike the evening performances at equifest as think that they have the same in every night, random classes seem to get through instead of the equifest classes for example think equifest would benefit so much with the outdoor and maybe able to get through the EP quicker they go on FOREVER!

I prefer outdoor evenings tbh, the indoor at Equifest doesn't have much room to sit & would imagine a brilliant atmosphere outdoors.

The indoor arena is great, but quite an electric atmosphere. There were a few accidents on the first few nights. This is because they had horses and riders in the ring, perhaps have never been put in an atmosphere like this before (amateur class). They do need to be careful with this as soon there could be a nasty accident. I did though love the evening performance, and long may it continue.

I was told last year that it was a horse show and not a spectator event so I would not think that they care if you can sit and watch or not as long as you part with your money. Could be a good show but could also be safer.

I think the indoor evening performance was amazing and very well organised, we were in with 9 other Maxi Cobs...plenty of room to show off and an electric atmosphere !! Would like it to stay indoors !!!

1. The Neighbours would complain about the noise, it would upset a few 2. It would upset the horses/owners trying to sleep. 3. It would be horrid in the wind/rain I'd like to see more seating and quieter music in the indoor. I'd also like us in handers to get more of a chance to get in the evening too

Thank you for all of your comments. The Evening Performance will be indoors again this year BUT we are hoping to have nearly double the seating. We will be trialling some seating out at the Shire Horse Society Spring Show in March and will know definitely after this. The man concerns seem to be about the shortage of seating and the sound level of the music indoors - both of which we will try to address this year. The Main Ring is lovely in good weather - but in England this cannot be guaranteed! We also have problems with our neighbours and if the Evening Performance ran later than 10-10.30pm we would get huge complaints about the noise / lights etc.
