£10 INTELLIGENT HORSEMANSHIP VOUCHER FOR FIRST PRIZE PLACINGS
Bright Stars is a new competition designed to encourage people to try showing for the first time or go further with their showing of horses and ponies. A final will be held at the BSPS Summer Championships in August at Arena UK and qualification will be awarded to the highest place competitors at this show.
This show is designed to be open to all and welcoming – please come and have a go! There will be lots of people on the day to help and encourage newcomers.
Judges will be using a microphone to give their thoughts and explain their decisions on the day to aid competitors and spectators. Competitors will also have a chance to talk to the judges to find out what they need to improve on for future shows.
1. BRIGHT STARS LEAD REIN
Ponies 4 years old or over, not exceeding 128cms to be shown on the Lead Rein. Riders not to have attained their 8th birthday before 1st January in the current year.
2. BRIGHT STARS FIRST PONY
Ponies 4 years old or over, not exceeding 128cms. Suitable for a child’s First Pony off the Lead Rein. Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before1st January in the current year.
Bright Stars Mini Pony Championship
Open to ponies that have been placed 1st or 2nd in classes 1 & 2
3. BRIGHT STARS RIDING PONY
a) Ponies 4 years old or over not exceeding 148cms. Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday before the1st January in the current year
b) Ponies 4 years old or over not exceeding 148cms. Riders any age
4. BRIGHT STARS HUNTER PONY
a) Ponies 4 years old or over not exceeding 153cms Riders not to have attained their 20th birthday before 1st January the current year.
b) Ponies 4 years old or over not exceeding 153cms Riders any age

5. BRIGHT STARS INTERMEDIATE
a) Animals 4 years old or over, exceeding 146cms. Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the current year.
b) Animals 4 years old or over, exceeding 146cms. Riders any age
6. BRIGHT STARS RIDING HORSE
Animals 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cms. Riders any age.
7. BRIGHT STARS HUNTER Animals 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cms Riders any age

Open to horses that have been placed 1st or 2nd in classes 5, 6 & 7

RULES AND ELIGIBILITY
1) PONIES/HORSES THAT HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE RIHS OR HOYS IN ANY SECTION CAN COMPETE IN THESE CLASSES BUT CANNOT COMPETE IN THE FINAL. Qualification will pass down the line.
2) The Bright Stars classes are open to BSPS members and NON members riding registered or unregistered animals.
3) Animals do not require a JMB Height Certificate. Animals and riders do not need to be registered to qualify or compete at the Final.
4) Correctly secured British Standard Skull Caps/Riding Hats that meet current safety standards MUST be worn by riders at all times when mounted.
5) Riders may only ride one animal in each class
6) Any suitable bridles may be worn and handles on saddles in the Lead Rein Class are permitted. Spurs may only be worn in Riding Horse and Hunter Classes.
7) The 1st 2nd and 3rd placed ponies in each a) section will qualify for the final to be held at the 2011 BSPS Championships Show.
QUALIFICATION CARDS WILL BE AWARDED TO THE FIRST THREE ELIGIBLE ANIMALS IN EACH CLASS
8) All other BSPS General and Championship show Rules apply AT THE FINAL ONLY.
