| | Anyone tried Oxyshot???????? « Thread Started on Mar 3, 2008, 9:11pm » | |
Just wondering if anyone has used the new calmer called Oxyshot ive been reading about it on the web and the advert for it says its the best thing out (but ofcourse they have to say that to sell it!) Ive tried everything on the market and nothing has worked for me yet but before i go spending even MORE money on calmers just wondered if any of you horse gossipers have tried it or know anyone who has? Any info much appreciated.

You can get the equivalent of rescue remedy for ponies from homeopaths, it does work.

How do you get the resue remedy into the horses mouth?! How much do you give? Mostly my pony doesnt need calming but on a busy noisy showground can get a bit wound up - which then winds the jockey up - would it work for that?

Give RR to both the pony and rider works a treat, I give a couple of drops to riders, it tastes great and a pipet full to ponies, dont think you can over dose them ( at least I hope not !!) you just drop it in the side of the mouth or on the tounge

I have a pony that can get sharp and spooky, and am finding it difficult to get her to stand in the line and for judges in her first class, non of the calmers I have tried seem to work until well after they are needed!! How soon before going in do you have to administer RR? It may even work for me before I have to go in and jump, as I get very stressed before going in the ring and that seems to transfer itself to my horses and then we nearly always knock the second part of the double down!!

I used RR with great results with a colt I was showing. I found that half a dozen drops in a syringe of water did the trick about 2 or 3 hours before going in the ring.
At one show I forgot to give it to him and couldn't understand why he was leaping all over the place, so much so that we were warned that we would be asked to leave if he continued to play up. Later in the day I realised that he had not had the RR.
I was told about it by a well known top show rider/producer and judge.

The Oxyshot you mean? on this thread also talking about RR so bit confusing Anyway, due to what I have read, have bought the smallest bottle of oxyshot to try out but haven't tried it yet because stress head mare is away for schooling really hope it does what they say because not much else seems to make a lot of difference.

dl, know where your coming from with RR, done the same with my daughter, I did confess after a while though that I had never given it to pony. I have it in a spray and at big shows if she (daughter) was a bit stressed I'd spray a couple of times on her tongue and spray her jacket (lady who sold it to us told us to do that). Don't use it much now but it is always in show box just in case. We got ours from stand at BSPS winters last year.

Yes we have
Only for dressage though. My horse is incredibley lazy, however she gets very stressed and is spooky in the arena. We used it for the first time at the BD regioanls and there was a massive difference!
Going to try it on the sharp youngster and see if it works as well for him.

is RR safe to use, you have to be careful with the contents of some herbal remedies,

I have often used it for myself, my dog who was terrified of thunder etc., and a friend put a bottleful in a bucket of drinking water of some limousin cattle which she couldn't get near and hey, presto!! I have heard, though, that RR is 100% alcohol!!!
If RR is given to a colt or stallion does it make him 'flacid'? It's pretty easy to tell with colts if they have been given some sort of sedative!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!" ![[image] [image]](http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u176/dun4u/Hunting/Blewbury6907002.jpg) [IMG]http://i168.photob |

another herbal thing that is very good to use is Forest Pharmacy stuff. I often used to use it at the big shows or evening performances, works really well and is good for people to!

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well i gave my naughty boy a dose of oxyshot waited 30mins tacked up and went in the menage walked about 5 circles without jig jogging may i add, then asked for trot (usually get a grunt, buck then canter??!!) he popped into trot after 10 mins asked for a canter and away he went as steady as you please!! Jumped a few jumps he actually trotted into them (he normally flys into them at 100mph) THEN carried on with flat work really chilled and EVEN WALKED round the lanes with no spooking!!! He had every oppertunity to do something and DIDNT im thrilled to bits its the best stuff in the world and belive me ive tried everything on the market, i would recomend to anyone thinking of trying oxyshot go and get some its ace!!
Sorry for writing an essay but im so excited that it works!!!!
