Had an amazing day as a spectator today - Dougle - very well done! The ground was pretty d**n perfect and I really hope nobody has complained. The quality of the ponies in all M&M classes was second-to-none especially, IMO, in the Cs and Ds; some cracking ponies forward. LOVED Mowcastle Mickey even though he wasn't placed - a gorgeous pony.

Had a great day watching today, the highlight for me being the connie win the championship what a beautiful pony! The ground seemed ok to me from the outside of the ring and the same for the ring the whp were in. The only one small comment I do have is how straightforward the workers course appeared to be from the outside of the ring with clear after clear in the smalls - although there could have been a tricky line or two that wasn't as obvious from the stands.

I watched most of the heritage flat classes (with the odd coffee break!) and thought all ponies were beautifully presented and the vast majority went very well. I think they all seemed to enjoy being in a different ring and the ground conditions were very good. The heritage championship could have been won by any of the 10 ponies in it - they all gave their all and did great gallops. As a spectator with no showing connections whatsoever, I chose the connie and fell as my champion and reserve and then the judges agreed with me! But well down to everyone today and particularly the FR jockeys who all rode very well and wisely and used the ring to good effect.

The workers course was a big disappointment and was almost boring to watch. Apart from the double after the water it was very straight forward, not a championship course.

Had an amazing time down at hickstead! Just have to say a huge thank you to everyone there keeping the ground in such good condition for everyone!!! Thought the M&M ridden was much better in ring 2 as there was more space and it was flatter the m&m was too simple for a RI track there should only be 3-5 not 9-13. Well done everyone! Also so if anyone wants A&B rmarks I have them but can't send them for about 3hours as on way home

I never post anything on any forum regarding a judging appointment but I had such an enjoyable day yesterday, I wanted to say my bit. Hickstead was very accommodating, and moved the M&M Open Ridden classes to ring two which made a huge difference. The size of the ring, condition of the ground, and atmosphere from the surrounding spectators made the day. As I told ALL the finalists, the standard of pony was superb and a credit to their riders and 'teams'. My main reason for posting this, I wanted to thank Mrs J Bushell, Mr & Mrs P. Hilton, and the rosette steward Jennie,(sorry I don't know your surname). They had a very long day(one of several) but ran the ring like clockwork, always with a smile, and always with time for the competitors. Likewise, my co judge Mr R, Sutcliffe helped make the event one to remember for all the right reasons, thank you all. Zoe Snape

Huge congrats to sammy bebbington and both her lovely ponies on their excellemt placings in the workers today, fantastic and to Clare and Tully for the middles, in reply to some saying it was not a championship track, maybe not but after the complete carnage of the plaited workers i think a nice day was in order.
Had a fab few days, jcb team were amazingly accomodating and cheerful in the wet weather, same could not be said for the stable management who on me being there at 5.10 pm as the classes runing late and i left before the presentation to get back, had kindly emptied my stuff into the dirty muddy puddles outside the door rendering them unusable, a tad too efficient i feel. But overall a great time despite the weather.

Thanks for the lovely comments Sparkysunny it was lovely to see you again and hope to see you at NPS Champs, We were very pleased with Shem it being his first time at Hickstead he came 12 th in the As and Bs, Shame I cant say the same for Maverick who got a great pull in the PP Heritage mixed breeds and then decided to change legs halfway through his gallop at the end of his great show. Never mind at least he got the pull,

Aww thank you for saying Mickey went well, it means a lot to know that I'm doing him justice! I had such a lovely time, and the C's and D's class was one of the strongest classes I have ever been in! I certainly cannot complain, we got the 3rd highest ride mark- and I've only had him a couple of months! Thank you again- he's such a star, I couldn't have asked for a better pony!

Never mind at least he got the pull, Ah, Judith - I watched his show in the mixed breeds - I think the Olympic dressage riders will be watching Maverick's flying change technique!!! And well done with Shem - a very good result, even though not placed. Looking forward to NPS Champs - will try to catch up with you there. Lots of love x
