i cant beleive the picton novice championship isnt in the evening performance!! I think the Picton was in there last year and they have to give all the finals a chance and with the extra junior evening performance, which is so popular with everyone, there is not enough time for everything.

I was horrified to see how much stabling charges are now. £90 for 3 days, add that to the cost of diesel (£150) from the end of the country and entry fees and it becomes rather too expensive to go.
What a shame, I have always enjoyed the NPS champs although they do seem to be getting rather like PUK with all the hype and it was the fact that they were different that encouraged breeders to go there rather than pony 'butlins'!!

We have taken to staying at nearby B&B with stables, which works out at hardly any more expensive than staying in lorry with stable costs on site !! And we get hot bath, comfortable bed and full english breakfast Lexy

Yes but your ponies will have to stay on the box all day instead of a stable!!

Indeed, but no different to any other show where we go for the day. And usually find that am fairly busy during the day so pony does not spend that much time standing in lorry.
Lorry has plenty of space, and pony quite happy in lorry with haynet anyway. Or often like to let them graze grass in between classes anyway.

Come on folks, we have to be realistic. The stable providers will have upped their fees due to haulage and fuel costs and the hire charge for the showground, stabling, security and cleaning out must have risen as will also be the case for accommodating judges. We've had a good deal for years at NPS compared to the other champ shows and this looks to have continued. People have to be paid whatever their role in making NPS a fabulous show.

I would normally be stressing over the timetable too, but this year have done the unthinkable. Yup we are going to Tenerife for two weeks . This will be the first time in 13 years I have missed what is usually my holiday. OH booked what he could get during school holidays and never gave a thought to Malvern. By the time was discovered what he had done was too late. So with good grace I have accepted the inevitable.

What a shame, I have always enjoyed the NPS champs although they do seem to be getting rather like PUK with all the hype and it was the fact that they were different that encouraged breeders to go there rather than pony 'butlins'!! Cost rise yearly no matter what sport you participate in. That’s a fact of life which we all have to put up with. As for NPS getting like PUK I totally disagree. Having gone to ponies UK champs for a good 10yrs the latter years of that we found the standards dropping to make way for more let’s call them "fun classes". So we tried the NPS Champs about 6yrs ago and have never looked back. Personally I found that the NPS was more geared up for our type of pony, the M&M pony. Standards were higher which made us strive for a higher standard of pony and one which was more true to its type. That can only be a good thing. Yes NPS have introduced more classes aimed at the younger person but they still promote high standards. Lets face it if the kids are not interested in showing then there is no future for the sport, as they are the judges and competitors of the future.
