Just looked at the marks for the HOYS Connies and the use of marks IMO is ridiculous, each section may as well have been out of 10. I couldn't understand how I got dropped from so high up the line to not even being placed, given that I gave what I would say was a 'good' show, but I now can see having looked at the marks, that not using a good range has a big effect. I was 11th, with only 6 marks less than the winner. To get dropped so far, I expected that something dramatic was spotted by the judge in their opinion in my show or the ponys conf, but turns out it was just a mark or two that made this huge difference, with many ponies on equal marks.

Have to say i'm abit gutted about the last minute judge change, i like Mrs D Hesford hence travelling to go under her she is a very fair judge and any ponies wrong legging would of been dumped by her in a hoys qualifier Whereas Mrs Overtonn ablitt seemed to forgive it in an open class (welsh c HOYS) *thumbs down*

Kelly McPhilbin and Rayid Morning Glory owned by Shellie Wilson- 7th in our 3rd HOYS qualifier (welsh C class)
Not doing bad for a novice pony thrown in the deep end! lol xx

The range of conf marks in the HOYS nf/connies was 19-28. Does anyone else think that just really bunched the prize winners up and made a lot of them on equal marks? I don't mind the marks being low but I thought that more of a range could have been used to spread them out more.

I am not surprised about D Collinson with low mark for conformation as she always did in past !!

Regarding the HOYS M&M classes, I am not sure if some of you need to go to specsavers, some ponies had 49 for conformation including the Connie class, IMO the conformation judge used a wide range of marks. However the judge that did the shows did not mark all good shows accordingly, but at the end of the day it is not easy being a judge, and we do have a choice. Also they were not pulled in so no one could have got dropped...

Jinja, the comments on here re the marks & being dropped refer to last year's champs show - this thread was started in 2013 but someone has resurrected it to ask about results for this year!
