I have a question about the lead rein m&m - you have age 8 and under, but most shows for m&m is 9. Also the m&m first ridden is 122 and under - usually its 128, and also the age 10 and it is usually age 12. By the way my daughter is well within the age range of these classes, but by putting these heights and ages you may be turning away potential members, just thought i would point it out, it only caught my attention as my daughter has a friend who competes in m&m first ridden but her 10th birthday was in november and her pony is over 122 (but under the usual 128) We may give it a go this year as we aren't too far away, so maybe see all of you there xx Schedule will be amended soon!!! thanks for bringing it to our attention. Hannah x

39 Lead Rein M & M - Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 8th. Birthday before 1st.January in the current 2009 40 First Ridden M & M - Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over, not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 10th. birthday before 1st. January 2009 I agree that this may put people of become members or coming to the show. I do think that you should up the age limited for LR to 9yrs and the FR to 12yrs and up the height Limit to 128cms, this will then coinside with most rules. It seems like the schedule is excellent with lots of choices. But if you are doing qualifers Equifest and PUK surly the age limits and hioeght limit should reflect those of the qualifers. As PUK is 128cms and not 12yrs before januray in current year for FR M&M and 122cms and not 9yrs before january in the current year. Also you are saying in the M&M classes the jockey should be a suitable size for then mount, so does the judge have the right to size the jockey on there pony and if they feel the jockey is not suitable will they be refused entry??? because on many occassions jockey do seem to big for there M&M but there is no rule to say they cant ride them Just a question? Otherwise it looks brillaint and i will certainly be attended. schedule will be amended with reagrds to height and ages. the rule of suitable size will stay as you would surprised at what people think is a suitable weight, it will be the judges to decide if you will be asked to leave the ring but lets hope it doesnt get to this

To Hottoddy, I think knee action is irrelevent on anything, because you will see alot of pure arabs have that, also I owned a Friesian/tb small hunter who had been a driving horse with loads of knee action, under saddle we altered the head carriage and it went long and low! To Caren thank you for that, the people in question entered the ring right across the 7th lead rein competitor who was in the middle of the trot round, they just walked right in front of them, yes how dangerous is that! Mags i too have judged there several times at the breaking point was at aintree where i stood in a ring for 9 hours and wasnt once even offered a drink never mind a break!!! Never again! can only say on behalf of a 90% comitee change sorry!! but can tell you are judges are VERY look after, especially at aintree we went out on a night before the show this year, they had breakfast lunch and dinner and where alway offered drink etc!!! hope your oponion will change of brookhead!!! Once again can only say sorry!!!! Hannah xxxx

i di suggest having the jumping on another day however it means all the committee giving up another day. not sure off putting if you have been since the new rings (on the all weather) have been opened. i reiterate there has been a huge shake up of th committee for various reasons. We were majorly let down at one point but sure some who have judged their this season can say how much facilities for the judges have improved. I recall this season I lovely spread put on for judges. I know Hannah puts a lot of time into keeping the judges happy. Before this years aintree I know the judges had a night out. Some of the comments from judges on here make me wonder if previous years are the reason we had some trouble with judges in recent years. I had lots of trouble in 2007 and I know Hannah had trouble in 2008. Including all judges cancelling on the last day! All you judges please give the new committee a chance to show you its a lovely club. Thanks lucy i really appreciate that, i agree with you seems that must of been what are judges problem was?! xxx

Thanks Hannah - thought I was loosing the plot!! Bit gutted the hunters are on grass, I have the impossible a heavyweight with a bit of a daisy cutter action (so the no knee action didnt bother me!!!) but he hates wet ground - needs to toughen up the big wuss!! I will certainly give your shows a blast - see you there!

Can i just check, perhaps ive read it wrong....Class 3 FYFR it states.. Comp not to compete in any other class except class 70-81... class 70 is the Junior Novice working hunter.....Class 24 is ridden veteran. Usually FYFR are allowed to still compete in lead rein as they are still learning, but surely not in Working hunter classes. have i read this wrong

The only nice thing about this show is the new arena. The committee seems to change. Seems like everyone wants to be in-charge. The car park is dangerous wire, metal, bricks litter everywhere. It looks like a dumping ground when you drive on of the road. Will be surprised if this passes the saftey check

Well said, hottoddy ... any show which is posted on Horsegossip seems to attract a nasty negative response from some lily-livered spoilsport hiding behind 'Guest' .. for example, check out the one nasty jiber on 'Warren Farm Mini Show' thread .... get a life you nasty beggars!

to be honest we went to the aintree show and didnt enjoy it very much, we felt a bit like "outcasts," with a few noticable nasty comments, the music was very "clubby" which was turned up when certain riders were doing their shows, quite obvious when people were sitting in the commentry box laughing and pointing! ( a young lad did turn it down and tell them off so all credit to him) and the "evening performance" girls dressed in what looked like what they would wear on a saturday night in town, swigging sparkling wine from bottles not what i want my young daughter to think is acceptable behaviour esp. at a horse show! i would like to say that all the judgeing was very fair though. im not coming on here just to slag off a show or any of their helpers but i would like to put across my view im not saying that i would'nt go to a brookhead show again as i believe in second chances and that people learn from previous mistakes and as you have said the comitee has changed but even though it is only down the road from me i would rather travel further afield where i feel more welcome

Everyone has the right for there opinion. There are good shows and bad shows. And do agree with sarah P guest re Aintree show.

I think there is a big difference between the opinions offered by Sarah P and b. Justified complaints and reasons for being unhappy with a show are generally gratefully received.

Well I went to the Championship show at Aintree last year and thought it was well run, fair, friendly and alround a really good day.
The judging was fair, the competitiors were all friendly, there was good competiton in each class. The commetiee were all very helpful, with anything you approched them with.
Personally i have been to brookhead riding club a few time competing, watching and supporting firends, the parking ground insant the best, but its not as dangerous has people have made it out, if it was that dangerous why do you see HOYS ponies there, do you think anyone for that matter would risk there horse or pony on "DANGEROUS GROUND" As in everything there is room for improvement but this DOSENT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT and its not cheap. You cant please everyone and you never will, people will always find something to complain or moan about, but thats life!
I personally wouldnt take any of these nasty comments to heart, just take on board what they are saying.
I think we will be coming for a FEW shows this year poss if they dont clash with anything.
As Hannah said, we all sharethe same hobby why do we smite people achievement and hard work with nasty comment. I think we should all think ourselves lucky in this current climate that there are actually show to go to. For some people money does grow on trees but for most it doesnt and those are the people that are trying these best to put on these shows for us all.
