Not sure if anyone else has had any problems ?... I purchased 2 bespoke jackets for my daughter the beginning of this year totalling over £500 the jackets took approx 10/12 weeks to arrive, when they turned up they didn't fit correctly and Richard at showing selection was really not very helpful with putting them right!!! We have not been happy with either of the jackets and have had to purchase 2 more from le beau cheval, to top it off my daughter was outside the pre judging of the supreme at hoys and had picked up her showing selection jacket by mistake... She was just being legged up on the pony when the jacket split all the way down the outside seam of the back of the jacket!! When I approached Richard and Hilary at showing selection I was told I would have to pay for the repair!! We have only used this jacket 6 time this season and it is in as new condition. I've never known a after sales service as bad as this,! Sorry to name and shame but if you are thinking about buying a jacket from this company please reconsider Eve Meer

The toy company I worked for always did. Most don't like you to know about this! I actually find them quite rude anyway & wouldn't buy from them anymore after going on the stand at HOYS

I phoned him ages ago about a new jacket. Size 38/40. He virtually told me I was too fat and huffed that he would have to make one specially. I came off the phone feeling obese! Then he sent me about 3 tiny swatches. Needless to say I didn't order from him and went to Alexander James instead. Lovely service and they didn't make me feel like a fatty!!!!

Sorry you've had problems but Ive got nothing but praise for them. Richard can be grumpy at times but thats just the way he is, not nasty with it. They haev always bent over backwards for me when needed jackets at short notice etc

Have to agree with arrogorn we have brought out last 2 jackets from Showing Selection and have been really pleased with the service and quality. Some friends had problems elsewhere and then went to SS and they were really helpful. Guess it's horses for courses - if you have a bad experience of course it puts you off but I would always recommend them based on our experience.

If you paid buy credit card and they are not fit for purpose I would try getting your money back through the credit card company. I had a jacket made for my teenage daughter by Alexander James, at the time she was very tall with no boobs. They were very helpful and it was a lovely jacket. She latter changed shape and they made it fit again for a very reasonable cost.

I'll have spent around £1000 with Showing Selection this year. Richard is just a character, I actually find him rather amusing, he doesn't suffer fools gladly but is and has been more than helpful, as has Hillary.
He was TOTALLY honest about some of the jackets I tried rather than being fluffy he told me if I looked ridiculous!!! Something I appreciate.
I will be going up in January to have my LR jockey jacket made up.
Not saying I wouldnt buy from anyone else but ive bought my last 3 jackets and my complete LR outfit from them and have no complaints at all.

Trading standards say that an item has to be fit for purpose. I would write to them, recorded delivery and state you will be contacting your local trading standards office and reporting them, A riding jacket should survive more than 6 times of usage.

I have nothing but praise for showing selection. All my clients and myself buy all our jackets from Richard and Hillary. I think they make fantastic jackets and we have never had any complaints about anything we have purchased from them. I have always found Richard and Hillary extremely helpful and nothing but professional and certainly never rude....!!!!

I agree, I find him very rude! I went to try a jacket at HOYS last year, purely because I fell in love with a particular tweed they did. Jackets tend to be very hard to get to fit me as I have a small and short body and quite long arms. So to get the arms the right length the body is hanging and if the body fits the arms are ridiculously short! I thought this would be quite a simple problem. I.e need a 28" sort of size in the body preferably childs and a more adult length arm, without the width. He told me that I was an odd shape and that his jackets weren't for me, I didn't even go into having a made to measure one as he basicalkly dismissed me there and then and was trying to edge toward another customer. So I have stuck with my old pretty ponies jacket and lengthened it as much as I can in the arm!

Unfortunately i experienced the same thing. He took all the measurements on the stand for a jacket and after a long time it turned up but was massively too big! We asked to return it but he was rude telling us that due to it being a bespoke product they wont do anything about it!! Totally devastated and now stuck with a jacket that i will never be able to sell for 1/3 of the price despite it never being worn.

My daughter treated herself to a new blue jacket at BSPS champs, the jacket fitted perfectly, in fact we have always had jackets made to measure so utterly surprused to find a ready made one. We tried jackets on other stands available but nothing matched the tailoring of this one. We dealt with Richard n found him to be nothing but a gentleman ...with a sense of humour Will definately be returning ...

Would agree Richard has character and often its his sense of humor - Remember he is only as good as the people that make up for him and as most companies use the same factory and have their own label put on - He might be getting a frustrating service from them, especially applies to lead times so he is kept waiting for the jacket as long as you are. i think I'm right in saying beau cheval are all in house so could defiantly give the best service due to making the product themselves

All I can say is for my daughters made to measure jacket from Alexander James is she had two fitting, one before it was fully made and finished and one when it was fully made to tweak it. My other daughter is a seamstress and dress designer, she makes a pattern from the measurements taken from the customer, it is then cut out and fitted, then usually stitched and refitted and then if any minor adjustments are done to make sure that it is truly made to measure. I do not see how a jacket where the measurements are taken and then are sent away to a factory to make the finished item is truly made to measure as they will base the jacket on a standard pattern. A lot of my daughters work comes from people having bought something that supposedly fits and then she has to remake it.

Janet and her team at Le Beau Cheval are amazing, anyone who knows me will know that I always have to have something different from the usual!!
Wether it's a waistcoat, jacket , hat or dogs outfit, Janet always comes up with the goods, she and I love bouncing ideas around, then making the final choice ..I cannot recommend her enough, the quality, cut and finish on every single item is paramount, lovely stuff.. You wouldn't ever be dissapointed...

Janet and her team at Le Beau Cheval are amazing, anyone who knows me will know that I always have to have something different from the usual!! I agree. I had jacket envy for a few years and eventually bought one of the posh tweeds for poncing around a couple of years ago. The following year I had it at HOYS and the cuffs were annoying me so Janet put a few stitches in while I was there at no charge. Great service. I don't mind anyone having a sense of humour, but making someone feel fat is not funny and could have an extremely bad consequence for some individuals.

Another vote for Janet at Le Beau Cheval, she's always courteous, never rude and her team produce excellent made to measure jackets for less than some companies charge for off the peg. My daughter will only have jackets from LBC now (although she does have a lovely navy jacket from Pretty Ponies that she's had for a few years), even our dog has tweed coats to match our jackets from LBC

le Beau Cheval saw us at very short notice(day before they were going off to hoys we called in on the off chance!) They were very accommodating and in less than 2 weeks (bearing in mind they were at hoys for 5 days) my daughter's lovely new fitted jacket arrived. I have used Pretty Ponies in the past too however they took quite a long time to deliver!

Le Beau Cheval are excellent in service & customer service is 2nd to none!
Richard at SS is rude & when hes been on the SS stand too long he doesn't want to know.. Hilary on the other hand is a lovely lady & more than accommodating. Seems that Richard seems to be the thorn in the side of showing selection.

Dear guestless iam confused please help how can this be public SHOWING SELECTION BEWARE this is far worse than that of charity farm and threatening and not as imporant a subject when people are responding to peoples requests for help. Charity farm has been moved to the secure area to which nobody seems to have the password how do you ACCESS SECURE AREA and to be fair should this not be in there. One rule for one one rule for all or charity farm warning brought out secure area so people know the risks Thankyou posh tweeds for poncing around a couple of years ago. If you read the OP you will see that the member, makes a big change from posting has a guest!, has asked for advice re a problem of faulty goods. She is also warning other people about her problems, and to be fair she has also put her name at the end of her post, so I am guessing that what she has said is true or she will be getting herself into a lot of trouble. I would also be extremely cross if I spent that much money to be treated in this way.

There is nothing wrong with someone who has had a poor experience sharing this with others - it's just another form of a review which happen all the time and it is not, as far as I can tell, threatening anyone. However, if someone creates a thread which is potentially libellous (particularly in the guest area) and we receive a request to remove it, then that is what is done in most cases. The secure area is where deleted threads go and is not accessible to any members. In any event, can we please keep this thread on topic rather than digressing to another matter altogether. Thank you.
