Having seen PUK has put on their provisional timetable i noticed no lee smith finals, i have just spoken to the lady in the office (not Davina) and have been told the committee decided to drop these classes , i pointed out that no annoucement had been only that cards were no longer required so one less in your pocket, I for one a Home produced person is sad that since the passing of Joan they have decided to drop something that gave us Amatures a chance to shine without the pro's without even consulting members first
I also pointed out that yet again they run on from NPS which then runs into Equifest and then BSPS Equifest always have their date well booked surely they can confir with the other societies so they all dont run into each other as it then becomes expensive to do them all (i did NPS PUK Equifest, not BSPS different ponies) and trying for fork out all the money at once was tough.
Davina is out of the office until next week where i will be giving them another call

I am unable to do lee smith classes but agree that it is very sad they have been dropped.
I also agree that the societies should get together to spread their champs as it is (certainly for me) not possible to do them all. Do we really need to have all champs in august?

I am very disappointed also as I joined , downloaded the forms which had not been changed price or lee smith which was extra , sent of my form and heard nothing, it was only after emailing that they replied with my numbers and told me there would be no Lee Smith and I was due a refund which I have now received, I may not have joined if I knew prior to this about Lee Smith as it was the one chance to not have to compete against the professionals, I may have to rethink for 2015

I totally agree regarding dates - it is impossible for us as Chloe cannot take all that time off work in one hit. However I do feel for show secretaries, these sorts of venues are booked years in advance and cannot just be changed. 2 years ago they had to accomodte the Olympics and last year it was the RIHS going back a week that caused the glut of shows running on. I guess the same has happened this year, I really feel their hands are tied with big national venues guess we all have to pick and choose.

The Showing Register is in July again 19th and 20th at Onley Grounds .... No room left in August !! However we are only two days if you run a 3 day show you need to be in the holidays for the children to have the time off

Well that would be a great idea and we are always very pleased to discuss anything but when we sent a letter to all the Societies about trying to make all HP and Amateur ruling the same we only had 1 acknowledgment of the actual letter and only the SWPA are prepared to discuss it so a vain hope we might be able to co ordinate show dates. However you never know things might change !
We aim to offer something for all ages and we do run over a weekend so limits time needed off work

Doesnt matter to me that they all run one after the other as we usually only do one championship show, not fair on the ponies to drag em round all the summer champs and on top of that there is the cost
When Equifest was setting up, I believe they approached BSPS and PUK to join in and make just one big show but they declined :/

Really this is a subject for another thread .. Co operation between societies ... We believe that it can only benefit exhibitors and after all societies should be run for the exhibitors and members not to sustain an executive structure. Equifest which is not a showing society as such is very keen on co operation we had a great time there this summer.

That's such a shame I always did them that's bad. What happens did the sponsors drop it? Or did are cutting back on classes?
