The Scottish Horse Show, held at the Ingliston Equestrian Centre, Bishopton, Glasgow, is on Tuesday 15th & Wednesday 16th JULY 2014.
As usual, the Show stages HOYS qualifying classes in almost every Ridden Horse & Pony Showing Section.
The Breeding classes (on the first day) culminate in the coveted CUDDY In-Hand HOYS qualifier as are the Senior Showing Olympia qualifer section.
For this year's Judges, please refer to the SHS website www.scottishhorseshow.com - Click on the link - "Judges".
And for the Schedule and ON-LINE entry - simply click on "SCHEDULE".
For STABLING at the venue, just download the Stable Booking Form, fill it in and post it to me along with a cheque - your ON-SITE Stable/s booking will be assured! But, please don't leave it too late . . . . .
If you have exceptional stabling queries, particularly in the immediate run-up to the show, then please don't hesitate to contact me directly on my SHS Stable Manager's mobile no: - 075 999 66 121 - I'm happy to help.
Please note that the Ingliston Equestrian Centre is NOT handling Stable bookings this year and do not wish to be contacted about it.
I'd be very grateful if you could make any texts and calls within reasonably social/ working hours. Many thanks.
Please note that - any problems you may encounter when we're actually at the show, of course, I'm on hand for you 24/7 . . !
Many thanks,
Caroline.

'Tis only March, but bookings for stables are already arriving!
Thank you so much to those of you who are booking stables for the SHS well in advance of the closing date; not only can you be assured of a stable /stables, but it makes my 'job' so much easier than trying to fit in the 'last minute' panic calls, although I know that they will happen too !!

Hello folks - I have heard that a "RUMOUR" (or someone has become very confused??) is abounding, that there is no stabling at the Ingliston Centre for the SHS this year.
Not so. It is fact that the venue, Ingliston Equestrian Centre now have greatly increased their Livery business, but . . . . . . . . . . .
PLEASE rest assured that the SHS has hired in well over 100 temporary stables specifically for our Exhibitors use at the Show in July.
These can be booked - as explained above - through me who, (for my sins) is the SHS Stable Manager again, just as I was in the days of the Show being held here at Kelso.
So at this stage and early in the year. . . very simply, get booking! Many very sensible people already have, and are totally assured of their boxes.
And, please, let me do the worrying when we get tight on Stabling nearer the show. I've fitted you all in before over many years - and I'll endeavour do so again!
Meanwhile, we, the SHS Committee, are looking forward to welcoming you to the Scottish Horse Show in July.
Caroline.

To answer the question - 'will the SHS have access to any of the venue's own permanent stables this year?' the answer is 'yes'- but, due to their very greatly increased Livery business, not many.
These, I'm earmarking for those with specific needs.
The temporary stables are of a good quality and will be on a grass surface (not gravel or tarmac), so should be safe and usable. As the boxes will arrive specifically for your use, the ground surface shouldn't be heavily soiled beforehand.
After all, HOYS' (temporary!) stables are on tarmac / the (also temporary) stables at the prestigeous RHAS (for example) are on a gravel surface . . . .!!
However, I really must thank those of you who have sent your bookings in nice and early. It makes our Admin just so much easier!

Stable bookings continue to trickle in at a steady rate - this is such a help. Whilst it won't alleviate the 'I need stables-last-minute.com' brigade of exhibitors, it does enable me to get started on designation of box/es to our regular competitors . .

In answer to some questions - the schedule will be available on the SHS website at the beginning of May - hard copy is already at the printers.
However, the most regular question is 'on which days are the various classes held please'?
The timetable is very much as before - all the HOYS Ridden Horse classes, the In-hand (Breeding) classes - which culminate in the prestigeous Cuddy in-hand Qualifier - and the "Senior Showing" Olympia Qualifier are all held on the first day, Tuesday 15th July.
The second day, Wednesday 16th July, is totally dedicated to the various Ridden Pony sections, almost all of which are HOYS Qualifying sections (the only exception being the Welsh ridden M&M section).
Hope this helps!!

The Schedule for the 2014 Scottish Horse Show is now available on the SHS's Website.
Edited to add - All the Stabling details can be found on the Stable Booking Form which has been available on the Show's website for some weeks.
I'm very happy to help those with exceptional queries over the 'phone.
However, you should find ALL the info you need by reading the 'bullet points' on the Stable Booking Form. Then, simply print it off, fill it in, pop it in an envelope together with your remittance and post it to me.
Sorted !!
I look forward to receiving your Stabling Forms . . . . Yes, because we have hired in temporary stabling especially for the SHS we do have on-site availability. But, I must mention that stables are booking up fast; lots of people have been very wise "early birds" this year.
Many thanks !! C.

We are pleased to announce that on-line entries are now available via the Scottish Horse Show's Website www.scottishhorseshow.comFor stable bookings, please continue in the 'old fashioned' way - simply download the stable booking form and send to me with your remittance. The Show stable yard is booking up fast, so I'd advise you to get your boxes booked when you get a minute, to ensure on-site stabling

Same old - !! I keep being asked if we're booked up with stables yet . . . . . and I keep giving the same answer - we are booking up rapidly!
Obviously I'm well aware that a flurry of big shows and the last RI qualifiers are getting in the way of tedious paperwork (I truly understand - been there, worn the flipping t-shirt 'till it wore out!)
- Whilst I DO have a crystal ball and yes, of course I'm a mindreader, I need to actually HAVE your bookings in order to count up stables!!
I'm really sorry to pester, but unfortunately time is marching on and our pre-entries close 14th JUNE, which is only three weeks away. Mega thanks in advance
The SHS does of course accept 'entries-on-the-day' - as it's done since 2001. But, I may not be able to guarantee on-site boxes to go with them.
So, it's far, far better for you to book your boxes now, and cancel the odd one if not required (through me, please, so I can re-allocate them) than simply assume we'll be able to muster on-site boxes out of the sky and at the eleventh hour!
Cheers,
Caroline.

Another question which has been put to me is ........ "Looking at your postcode, are these stables well over an hour from the show..?"
I LIVE well over an hour from the show. Two, to be precise. The address on the Stable Booking Form is simply my home address.
Stables are on site.
The only stables NOT on site are the option to hire at the 'Morris Centre' near Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, which will take any overflow that the SHS may have.
At the moment, please keep booking. Entries close in three weeks.
Thanks.

Carrying that forward, please be aware that "Pre-Entries" ie: At the pre-entry rate before Showday when we will accept "ENTRIES-on-the-DAY" are closing at the end of this week. Following which, show entries will not be accepted until at the show.
I will continue to take STABLE BOOKINGS, but at the increased rates, which you will find on the Stable Booking Form on the SHS Website (it's on the "Schedule Page in BOLD, PURPLE!)
I cannot and will not take Stable bookings over the phone - please use the STABLE BOOKING FORM which you will find as explained above. Some people phoned weeks, even months ago and promised that their bookings would be with me asap. I am still waiting for some - so, to those, either hurry up or lose out. I'm not running around chasing you; to be honest, it is up to you to book and PAY! for your Stables.
TUESDAY night for WEDNESDAY competitors, (or two night Competitors) - it really is 'first come first served' and I will soon have to say NO to late bookers, as we are getting full on that night.
I have read through this and I fully agree, it sounds a bit harsh. But, please help me to help you!
Thanks in advance -
Caroline.

Onsite STABLING is FULL and we have moved to a waiting list.
...... if (due to unfortunate accident /illness etc) you no longer require (even one!) stable/stables - then please let me know IMMEDIATELY so that it/they may be re-allocated to someone else. Your stable fee will be refunded (obviously minus Admin charges) on reciept of a relevant Vet's / Doctor's certificate.
PLEASE DO NOT SWAP AMONGST YOURSELVES. Thank you.
For those who have not yet booked, the "MORRIS EQUESTRIAN CENTRE" at Fenwick, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire KA3 6AY (approx 30 miles south west of Inglistion Centre) should be able to accommodate you. Tel: 01560 600 759 / Fax: 01560 601 003
There are other private stables available within a 30 minute radius of the Ingliston EC. Details can be found on the SHS Website. These are not under the jurisdiction of the SHS and we do not know the quality or logistics of the stables (eg. size / grills in between / able (or unable) to take stallions / able to park big lorries etc.) Call them and ask!
I have recieved numerous enquiries/bookings since the closing date of 14th June (postmark) - some of which I am able to accommodate. No news is good news so if you money has been banked - and if I don't immediately contact you, then you can be assured that you have stables on-site.
A list of Stable allocation will be posted on the SHS Website early in July.
Thank you -
Caroline.
PS: Please DO NOT call the venue, Ingliston Equestrian Centre. They have no boxes available due to the extensive increase of their livery business and cannot provide stabling, which is the reason that the SHS has needed to hire in temporary stables this year.

Good news! The SHS has managed to hire in some additional on-site stables, so there is a (very) limited number available still.
First come, first served. Which is strictly enforced.

Please can you tell me if pre entry numbers will be published so that we can plan our journey accordingly. Many Thanks. I will ask on your behalf. BUT - please remember that "pre-numbers" may not (across the board) give a true representation of a timetable when entries are taken on the day too, so leave plenty of time for your arrival.

Unless someone sadly has a misfortune, this its to let you know you that there is NO on-site stable avalability remaining on the Monday night.
However, it is a very good idea to be placed on the waiting list.
I really don't have the time to trawl through other threads on HG to find people advertising for stables in the locality. I will help if I can - so please get in touch using the normal channels and your proper name.

The online entries for the Scottish Horse Show have been re-opened until midnight on Monday (the night before the show's first day) so if you know you are definitely coming and would like to make your entry in the comfort of your own home without the stress and time involved in queueing first thing in the mornings, then please use this facility and just come in and pick your numbers up on showday.
This is also very useful for those competing in the afternoon classes as on-the-day-entries are only open until 10.30am!
Any queries regarding entries please contact me, Fiona Reed (Entries Secretary) on 07585 629496, or by email shsentries@aol.com
many thanks

The mind boggles..... why bother having a closing date for pre entries of 14th June only to extend that to 14th July !! Could have saved myself a lot of money as now qualified and wouldn't have needed to enter or book stables ?? Never mind I will know for next year ..... !!!

The mind boggles..... why bother having a closing date for pre entries of 14th June only to extend that to 14th July !! Could have saved myself a lot of money as now qualified and wouldn't have needed to enter or book stables ?? Never mind I will know for next year ..... !!! Since the year of the unfortunate Foot & Mouth epidemic, 2001, the SHS has taken "entries on the day". Entries at the 'pre-entry rate always close a month before the Show. This year for the first time, the SHS has used the "Entrymaster" system which has proved helpful to both exhibitors and the Entry Secretary. The decision was made to open 'entries on the day' at that rate, early, via the "Entrymaster system" As has been explained above by "Puddledub" who is the SHS Entry Secretary, this should save time and stress on show day. Well done for qualifying already. The SHS is a lovely show in it's own right and well worth attending whether or not one is seeking qualification. May I ask, if you are no longer coming, is your stable available? NB: THe SHS can only offer a refund (less admin) on production of a Vet's or Doctor's certificate.
Please contact me by MOBILE PHONE: 075 999 66 121.
Many thanks, Caroline Nelson. SHS Stable Manager.
