You usually need two separate policies. I buy RAC breakdown cover with my Tesco clubcard points every year which covers both myself and my OH, but then buy Trailer Assist separately (around £45 I think)

Sold my trailer a couple of years ago but insured with NFU got breakdown cover via PRP included. They recovered my 4x4 and trailer on a low loader and sent separate transport for the pony. They did expect someone to travel with the pony while I waited for low loader which I suppose could be a problem. Great service though in a whiteout blizzard, 35 minute wait for horsebox, 45 mins for low loader. The recovery guy even provided tissues when I had a little weep

I have RAC for the car and PRP for trailer. The PRP was £45 per year. The RAC is £10 per month.

KBIS, they are brilliant and a great price too. They cover my car and trailer, even includes home start.

I work for RAC and used to be involved in the promotion of RAC Horse Trailer Assist (HTA) We are one of the cheapest on the market at the moment and renowned breakdown company. Good luck in your search, make sure you select the right level of breakdown if travelling long distances x
