Hi All
I would love a little advice on suitable bits. I currently have a show pony and I am finding that the double bits are pinching the side of her mouth. I thinks she has a very small mouth/lip. I have been informed that pelhams are also acceptable in classes. Can anybody recommend any bit that I could replace with
Thank You

try a rugby pelham, it gives the illusion of a double bit and to a degree is the closest in action, have a crescent, or half moon bit as this is kinder than a straight bar. Use an elastic curb chain , don't forget a lipstrap

Personally I would ring the Bit Bank. They are so helpful and knowledgeable, - I am sure they will help with experience rather than just trying a bit that is perhaps not ideal for the shape of your ponies mouth.

Ride mine in a rugby Pelham - he has a small mouth too. He is very comfortable in it

I used to use a leather curb chain.

Or an elastic one as gw suggested above. I often had the leather one adjusted so slackly that it couldn't possibly have come into effect as it should anyway, it was just for show! And yes, I used a lip strap on it too.
