Has anyone successfully shown at County level using a suede/leather saddle pad (the ones usually seen on Shetlands!) on a LR Welsh pony? I'm not convinced that our saddle fits this year & this is the 3rd one that I have bought, I have seen a pad that it identical in style to a Samantha so thought this may be a solution to his changing shape! I assume it won't be 'marked down' by judges

There's a lot of other ponies wearing theses saddles in the show ring, even Exmoors. I can't see how it would make a difference as long as it fits well. I am getting one done for my Dartmoor just now to see if I can get away with it rather than a made to measure. It's the deluxe Amanda Thorn I am getting.

It's the Deluxe Plus that I am looking at! I know of a pony who jumped at HOYS in one, so will be getting one for our Exmoor after pay day!
Would be interested in how you get on with your Dartmoor in his!

I'm interested in these, I'm currently breaking my exmoor but the saddle slips and don't want to scare him so might have to buy him one of these instead!

I know of a Dartmoor that is shown in Fr classes with a pad . He qual for the RI last year , so cant see why it would cause an issue with Judges? Surely as long as the pony is going forward and happy , that is the main thing?

I have shown a section B section A and obviously the shetlands quite happily in a pad, never had any adverse comments or results as such. The ponies seemed very happy in them, much more so than an ill fitting saddle. I always used a thick memory foam pad cut to shape and covered in matching fleece underneath.
ETA having used most different types the pad from Zoe Snape was always our favourite.
