Some of you may know of the Fosse Park Horses in Leicester, but for those of you who don't the animals grazed there last winter were in bad conditions and there have been two deaths this spring. The RSPCA are monitoring the situation, the owner of the horses is just thumbing his nose at the authorities, land owner, and concerned bystanders. So hang on as he got passports for these animals? DEFRA.. Its not up to us to police, we just made the law. Trading standards.... not really interested Police.....we take advice from the RSPCA? RSPCA ..... not really thought about that, its not welfare so we would not advise prosecution. So for of all of us that forked out £20-50 for a basic horse passport for our beloved mixed breed we wasted our money. If someone who has had all this attention on him is ' not bothered' why should the rest of us be, but of course its an EU directive. If you follow the link there should be an interview with an RSPCA inspector. drive.google.com/file/d/0B-9QMEI9LLWIZTZOcGxHWTJYS28/edit If not pick it up here.. www.facebook.com/pages/Help-the-horses-of-Fosse-Park-Leicester/215018828693901

Horse passports are a joke really, when u buy a pony you should register it in your name, I am having a dartmoor pony back next week , I sold him 9 yrs ago to an experienced professional home, he has I have found out been in and out of dealers yards, was a rescue case until he was bought by the lady I am buying him from who has had him about 3 months but he is lame so she cannot keep him , however I am the last person in the passport , in my opinion an utter disgrace after 9 yrs, so he finally returns to me, he will retire or if I can sort out the lameness may go as a LR or companion on loan only

I watched fake britain this morning about a horse that went on loan four years ago and was sold on. The original owner eventually found him and he had a new passport with new name, different age and different height. They were saying that there are too many different societies giving out passports and until there is one data base it is easy to get another passport. All horses should be microchipped
Back to the original thread, everyone just seems to be passing the buck and nobody seems to want to take responsibility for these poor horses, particularly, it sounds like, the owner! Shame on them

Yes I saw Fake Britain and Watchdog recently regarding passports. You can be given a similar passport (colour) but once checked by vet and discovers micro chipped also, all leads to a different ball game. What a nightmare, hope I can board my plane in a few weeks time!!! Easy money spinner.

I sold a registered WPB about 12 years ago and of course her passport went with her to the new owners. I lost touch with her as the new people moved house and when I rang WPCS I was still her last registered owner. Found her again last year and amazingly she has ended up in the next village She now has a pet ID passport is registered with them as a bay when she is quite clearly chestnut and is down as being 12 years old when in fact she was 16!!! Passports are a total nonsense and a major waste of money
