Now I'm opening a can of worms here but I'm sorry..... I do NOT agree that ponies who go on wrong legs in qualifying shows should go on to win the class and qualify!! Regardless of whether the marks are 'bumped up' because of conformation! This must have been addressed so many times before but why not introduce a band system whereby marks are deducted accordingly dependant on errors in the show??
Call this sour grapes or whatever but apparently only 'the best' should get through to these prestigious finals yet these 'best' animals cannot go correctly at the qualifiers??! Makes me mad! £100 quid round trip in diesel, a well behaved pony (admittedly wasn't the best in the class) but there's no wonder people become so disheartened at these shows! The ponies who win are obviously fabulous, but it's so d**n obvious from the ringside that mistakes were made in shows so why don't some judges take this into consideration!?!
Rant over!

A wrong leg may be -5 but a perfect rest of show still leaves them On 45. What if a pony goes on the correct leads but is behind the bridle and not using it's baCk end?

what about a pony that wrong legs it and also can't stop in gallop, surely that is 5 for wrong leg, 5 for manners, 5 for lack of control?

I didn't see the class so I can't comment on lack of control, just my view on wrong legs! I certainly had a lack of controls with my mare today!!!!

First time at Staffs Country Festival and we had a lovely day. Everyone very friendly and the sun was shining. Will be back again next year!
Regarding wrong leg in a show and an almost run away unable to come back obediently from the gallop by the winner in Hoys F/D/H, it was a very lovely pony but it wasn't the best show of the day in that class. Can't say about it's conformation but it appears it must have been a very high mark to overcome the errors in the show.
However, we all need a bit of luck and today was their day. Well done to the rider, who I am sure was just as surprised as many watching from the ringside, to maintain the first place pull-in, enjoy the day and good luck at Hoys your pony is lovely.

i agree kateanne, whilst i did watch it, the show was not the best and can not comment on the confirmation, i agree we all need some luck on the day hopefully getting that golden ticket, shame for 2nd as he did a lovely show - i have no connection with any of the ponies, just my observations.

Was the worker ring indoors or outdoors? In regards to wrong legged shows, it should be alot more than -5 marks, it is infuriating when ponies dont do particularly good shows and still win(I was not in this class) but before now, a pony I was riding went on the wrong leg before being quickly corrected, and rightly so had a 25 ride mark. Just because a pony has good conformation it should not allow a pony to win if its show was not good. This being said, the marks on the day allowed this pony to win, im sure all connections are thrilled and im sure it was a stunning pony, but by the sounds of it there are alot of un happy competitors:/

I had two ponies in this class and would just like to remind everyone that it is not the fault off the family that qualified today before everyone jumps on them. It's the judges decision The winner was clearly surprised at the placing X

Agree with the fell dales highland class. The judges both made themselves look stupid!
If anyone has the marks from class 31 the middle section of novice m&m WHP could I have a copy please!!

I genuinely think the winner in a particular class was shocked to receive the qualification, (probably will come as no surprise that people will be commenting after the event!) Another gripe with this show is the state in which the marks have been published. (Reference on Facebook earlier tonight). Granted they have been put on the website later on but no original copies appear to have been made available, just illegible over written mark sheets for several classes! Leads you to wonder if original/official mark sheets were used in the classes? Gosh I'm moaning today!!

What went M&M HOYS champion? It was the winner of the section B class and reserve was the winner of the F/D/H class I thought the section D was lovely, he galloped his heart out in the championship With regards to wrong legs I thought there were a few that lost decent places through that with the same judge. The thing I was most surprised about was the apparent difficulty in following the set show but not seemingly being penalised for it though of course its easy to say these things from outside the ropes!
