Just bought a pony with a standard bhs passport and I want to change his name and also register him with chaps. Can anyone confirm the order I need to do things in? Can I change his name at the same time as change of ownership and do I need to have all that in place before I send the passport to chaps for overstamping?
Also it states on the passport he is piebald but he is most definitely more of a dark bay now rather than black on his face and belly areas, does they need notifying of this?
Thanks in advance

You can't change a name in a pony passport. Once passport has you as the registered owner you can send it off for over stamping May needs to accompany with a photo of either side

From what I've read on Google as long as it is not a prefix (breed) name you can change the name but the old one remains on there as well in brackets. The passport he has got is neither use nor ornament at the moment, he hasn't grown to make the size stated on the passport, he's changed colour slightly and his name is the same as probably a million other horses on the planet lol. Good job his markings tally really or I would assume it was a dodgy passport.
