I have noticed some lumps on the bone of my foresters left front, just below the knee there I one and then further down another smaller one/two. Also his hocks have swollen looking lumps on the inside. I am wondering whether these are splints, if so how should I go about having them treated? The vet will be coming out asap and he shan't be doing much work (light hacking at walk, just to keep him ticking over). Has anyone got any advice I would benefit from seeing as i haven't had any experiences with splints before? Are there any supplements i can try/or anything like that i can try? Thanks x

I tried various things on my pony's splint and nothing worked. My vet told me to be patient. I rested him and used magnetic boots and his splint completely disappeared

Thank you, which boots did you use?

Bioflow boots. I still use them regularly when the ponies have been worked and really recommend them

I'd advise complete rest until the splints have hardened. I've used Compagel on a newly formed splint on a youngster (2 year old sec D) and it is unnoticable now as a 5 year old. Whether this is due to the Compagel or whether they would have reduced naturally I can't say Are the lumps on the hocks soft and squishy? If they are it sounds as though hard ground maybe to blame especially alongside the splints.
