In your opinion how dramatic would this affect the value of a horse? Specifically one in the region of 5k
What I thought were just warts, one is now pink and inflamed and increased in size

Depends where they are on the horse but personally I would say it has quite a large impact on the price. I personally wouldn't even consider a horse with sarcoids. However that is simply my opinion because we have had a bad experience with them as my mum's dressage horse has sarcoids on his thingy and he has had to have a number of small operations and lots of time off work. He's now hyper sensitive around this area, as I suppose anything would be when they've had chunks cut out of that area, and its made him difficult to handle and quite flicky legged whilst rugging him up etc.
However, I know of lots of other horses that have them in other locations and its not a problem to them.
So I guess it depends on age of horse, location of them, how fast (if at all) they spread etc etc. You could quite easily run up some big vet bills and insurers are unlikely to cover you for them if it's a known problem at the time of insuring it.

You never know what's going to happen with a sarcoid and because of this I wouldn't even consider buying a horse that has one - especially one that is changing in size and appearance.
