Hi, I was wondering if there is anywhere that you can buy field safe fly masks? My mare constantly has her face covered in flies, especially around her eyes! I have tried the field safe fly fringes and they aren't really helping much, and as she lives out in the summer 24/7 she needs something that is field safe but actually helps, so just asking if anybody knows if there is such a thing as a field safe fly mask? If not can anybody recommend a solution for my problem?! Thanks!

We use the Shires masks, fasten with Velcro under chin, covering eyes and ears. Both my Anglos have a bad time with flys near eyes and ears, as their field borders a river.
Think they're about £14.99 each.

I've been using the Rambo fly mask that has the frame to keep the mesh away from the eyes. I have to say that once I got used to its rather strange appearance, I soon realised that it does an amazing job and is impregnated with Vamoose fly repellent too. I have to say no sore eyes this year thanks to this mask, it was about £30 which seems really expensive for a fly mask, but it is well worth every penny and is super safe to wear in the field with no need for a headcollar. My horse also wears am Amigo Bug Rug which also has Vamoose in it and he hardly has had any bites this year, even from the horse flies - I've got more bites than him!

Have both of these stayed on overnight? I don't mind spending a decent amount providing it stops all these flies around her face, as I worry that they may lay eggs underneath her eyelids!

Yes, stayed on over night, best ones I've used.

I like the rambo ones too. Sadly my youngster has grown out of pony size now so am selling them!
The only thing to bare in mind is that of they get them muddy, they can't see through them as well so be sure to wash regularly. I have used them overnight (to give protection early morning before coming in for the day) and have been very pleased with the fit and no safely issues found.
