I have just started to bring my horse back into work after around 12 months off due to pregnancy. he is 7 this time and 17h I am looking for feeding sugestions. he is forward going but not sharp so this isn't an issue he has been on oats and barley the last few winters with a conditioning mix and alfa-a orginal and an ad lib haylage. in the past he hasn't kept his weight very well despite our efforts due to constantly growing..Come August/September will require a feed every day. however seen as I am riding him and trying to get him in show condition with a good amount of muscle particularly his neck I wondered if anyone had any tips for feeding and also exercersises to help his muscle gain. We feed my 17hh mare on condition cubes from dodson and horrell, with easy grass and mollichop and a powder balancer from feedmark. We also did a lot of long and low exercises and pessoa work to build up topline. She was very very poor when we got her but now she looks great, it's taken a while as she was growing at the same time but it was worth it in the end, her skin and coat have also improved and she has never gotten fizzy etc.
