I have a very quiet boy, much better now he is fed Winergy Equilibrium but particularly at shows he can get very tired/lethargic and lose his sparkle
What experiences have people had with Red Cell and EnerG?
I gave him an EnerG shot at a show this weekend and it had a very small effect but nothing to drastic
Any advice greatly appreciated! I just want a bit more sparkle particularly at the away shows
Thanks

As far as Red Cell goes, and anything else that supplements iron, the horse's diet, if rich in forage, is rich in iron. It is also very easy to give a toxic overdose of iron over time, I would avoid giving an iron supplement unless you know the horse is anaemic AND genuinely needs more dietary iron, even if they are anaemic you should rule out lack of things like copper, plus possible loss of blood through worm infestation etc.

Red cell is far better. Tried both and the other had no effect on my C, Red cell tells you what dose to give (we use the pellets) and it'a fantastic, doesn't seem to send her fizzy but gives her energy.

Equistro do a supplement which is fab and veterinary recommended - just struggle to remember the name until I see it - it is Haemolyten - or similar.

I think I"m right in saying that horses can store red blood cells in the spleen, so it's very difficult to check their actual iron levels with a blood test. Am I talking rubbish or can anyone confirm?

I tried red cell and it sent my boy mental.............never again. He now gets oats added to his feed for a bit of a boost.
