Lovely day and really pleased with our 3 boys who were all on best behaviour! My only criticism was there was no announcements of winners which was a shame if you didn't know the ponies. Congratulations to all very worthy winners and places today. Champion was Jonny Stevens and Balmoral Erica and Reserve 2nd in the large breeeds Leon King on a Dale which I believe is GABRIELLA B's. Small breeds 1st Brincley Commanchera - Gemma Pallett 2nd Sam Roberts Newoak fURIOUS 3rd I think was okeleat Navigator and I know Pumphill Rasputin was placed. A/B 1st Sam Roberts & Moelview Prince Consort 2nd Eyarth Osprey 3rd Cadlan Valley Sandpiper 4th Laithill Jazz 5th Moelview Chieftain 6th Cadland Valley Buzby Battle of the B's!! Sorry not clear on other results only class winners as they did not announce them. Congratulations to Richard and Jane from Moelview - 2 ponies in the top 5 A/B class and so glad it was a successful first trip for Jane to the RIHS! Safe journey home.

What an RI the Bebbington family are having! Theresa gets engaged and then bags a 6th Place on Nutcherscopse Jonathon in the 143cm MM Workers and sister Samantha wins the 133cm MM WHP on Rushmoor Sunrise then takes 5th place on Willoway Court Jester in the >143's. So pleased for them all - fab results x

Whilst watching the m&m leadreins it was lovely to see the people win, and be so happy. On the negative and harsh side I was so appalled by the judging, there were many many beautiful ponies that went fantastically and more deserving than some of the final line up. Also (and this is my opinion only) the Rihs is supposedly to represent the best ponies in the country of their section, and I think the audiences reaction (deadly silence) said it all for the choice of the top three. Again...it's fab for those people, just wouldn't be a judge I'd rush to go under if ever I came across her in tge future!!!!

The pony in third place won the Saturday m&m lr class, and the second pony was also placed, I take it you mean the winner didn't deserve to win? I thought they did a good show maybe not as well known as some of the ponies with producers.

Maybe the spectators were surprised because none of the 'big names' won! There is so much criticism directed at judges for placing 'faces' that perhaps we just all expect the producers and the professionals to win every time. I watched the class and felt that it was quite refreshing to see some new names and faces doing so well. It was a very strong class, there were some super combinations forward and the judges must have had a difficult decision to make, but they clearly were not influenced by past history and they judged what they saw on the day; something we all hope for but don't always seem to find.

Yes I agree with you both also, it's refreshing, but some of the line up was just not to my taste :-)

I wasn't watching the class nor was I in the class ! I cant comment for the top 2 ponies but since you have included the 3rd pony I do feel I should stick up for him. He is an incredibly consistent and well mannered example of a Dartmoor. He always goes beautifully and looks superb and his results confirm that. He has qualified for HOYS for 3 consecutive years, and has also been Supreme at Ponies UK/Equifest to name but a few. He won the home produced Mini Championship the following day. I am confused as to why there would be a more deserving pony in the top 3???

I had a pony in The home produced lr section and whilst some Of The placings were questionable as well as the marking the dartmoor was a very deserved winner and looked and went phenomenally well done to the connections :-) don't really know why it was only 3rd the day before tbh !
