Just got back from Equi late last night .Due to other commitments we've hardly done anything this season other than a bit of local RC for the kids . I love the Southern Highland Pony Show which follows on from Equifest on the Sunday and as Pea had qualified for the Equifest Highlands at her only outing in June we decided to go on the Friday and do a few Equifest classes and make it into a bit of a camping adventure for the children .We only came back off holiday on Tuesday so Pea had been stood in the field for a fortnight .So - 3 days work , a quick bath and off we set for Peterbrough at the crack of dawn on Friday morning .8 hours later we are stood 2nd to Mosside Maclaren with two other Hoys qualified ponies on my left and the realisation that we are through to the evening performance on Friday night ( thankyou Teemak for coming to the rescue - I was totally unprepared !) Ages since we've done an EP but Precious was a star.gave it everything and was ( mostly ) well behaved .I also got the leading rider ticket although we didn't get through the pre-judging to the evening on Saturday - great fun trying though ! And then she got 2nd in the Open Highlands on Saturday , the judge gave us a show with loads of canter and Pea just flew round in her usual exhuberant fashion . Her first class on Sunday at the SHPS was BTO with our 'Billy' who has been riding for all of 6 months and was beside himself with excitement at riding at such a big show . My gorgeous pony behaved like an angel with her little jockey and Billy was thrilled with his 4th rosette .Pea then moved up a gear with me and won/was highly placed in all her classes. Set off for home at 4pm and due to traffic problems didn't get home until 10pm .She stood patiently in the wagon until we got home , then pranced along the track to her field , did a few laps with her mates , had a roll and then settled down to munch some grass . God I love that pony ! Brilliant weekend - lovely to meet the HG'ers who came and said hello to me and Mr F ! Hope to see you all again next year .

We had a fantastic time at Equifest with our cheeky ginger shetland . Went with the aim of just enjoying it and hopefully pony would behave as she has never done a stay away show . Pony was good as gold my daughter rode her socks off and we really enjoyed it. All judges and stewards in our classes were friendly and gave each pony their attention when they should so that each jockey was made to feel they had a fair chance . The icing on the cake for us was my daughter getting to ride in the main ring for the Equifest D/E/S final and finishing fifth in a really strong class . They got pulled third above some top dartmoors but a few strides of wrong leg (the only wrong leg of the whole week ) so they ended up fifth . Never mind I was proud of them for just going in the main ring and doing the class , getting a placing was a big bonus

Had a fab time at Equifest, took my 15 year old TBx Cleveland Bay mare for her first stay away show (she come to the showing world later in her career!) and was just expecting maybe the odd 10th but she surpassed all expectations being placed 3rd in the working veteran horse with some lovely veterans, 4th in the SHP qualified class (with top HOYS ponies) and then her first class of the week gaining 6th out of 20 again among HOYS ponies in the top spots!! She didn't just stop there gaining another 2x5ths, 6th, 2x7ths and a 9th - all out of very strong classes!! Also very pleased with the fact she jumped round the open WHP with just 2 fences down each time and just a few things to learn so pretty happy for her first time jumping round a course like that

We too had a fab time at Equifest. Previously we've done M & M lead rein and first ridden. Took my daughters Shetland for her to show in hand, having lost her nerve a little riding. I ended up doing a bit of running too and we ended up with a 5th in a class of 20 shetlands, 7th in another huge shettie class and a 10th in a small breeds. I was very pleased as he's had to step up from his usual role as play pony/nanny/boss of field to become a posh show Shetland for the week. He's now home and bizarrely not happy to be out, not wearing lycra and being pampered!! Stood at gate desperate to be back in and treated like a king We missed a couple of classes due to a clash which I thought might happen. I felt sorry for my daughter though as she's done quite a number of young handler classes this year and done well, she's only just turned eight. The young handler had 24 ponies in it, handlers all 8 and under. The judge had them do a trot figure of eight, it was carnage...........children crying, ponies misbehaving, one little girl was taken away in an ambulance as she fell and hurt her leg ( hope she's ok) the class went on for a good hour and a half. poor kids were confused to hell, only a handful understood!! Frantic mums outside the ring trying to give kids advice and support. Our Shetland took advantage and tried to eat, he was sooooo bored. Poor Zoe struggled to keep his head up and the whole carry on did put her off her next class which was a shame as she's got the confidence to do in hand. I think I may suggest to them for next year that if a set show is required that it is put in the schedule so kids can practise and be prepared. She enjoyed it and was pleased to have done it and I was super proud of her for doing her very best. My niece had a win and reserve champ with her PBA and a couple of good placings too so all in all a fab week. I know its had a lot of bad press on facebook (the demon of the internet) but its a well run show, there were a minority of total idiots who ruin it for others by stealing and sabotage. There's bound to be issues at a show of this size and occasional cock-ups but we had a ball, my thanks goes out to the Equifest team for their sterling work in putting it on. I know people complained about things going missing but sadly in this day and age, put your stuff away, lock up your lorry, don't leave stuff at your stables. Equifest tell you to keep things locked up but year in year out, people take the risk. Sadly a few folk aren't honest and it doesn't just go on at Equifest, its nationwide.

We only went for 2 days due to other commitments and we had a great time, we came 3rd in the showage ride off which was so much fun, and a really good class for those who want to get into the evening even if they aren't going to win lots of classes. I also managed to end my 'no wins' record after 3 years and we won two classes and got 2 reserve champions!
I want to say a huge thank you to the organisers, who have done a fantastic job to keep the show running as well as it does. From the start they have been so helpful in sorting us with stables, refunds and changed entries, and have stayed friendly as well. I'm always amazed at how well organised it is and I'm looking forward to it next year, hopefully we can stay the whole week.

We had a fab time too, no problems our end, all the family horsey and non enjoyed themselves. Had a brill 3rd in the Native concours, well chuffed with that and the little Arrow in with the adults. 2nd in the Equifest FR final and 3rd in the jnr final after being pulled top threw my daughter into panic and she misheard for her show. Workers were great too, loved the courses and Arrow jumped clear round both classes. Looking forward to next year, found office very helpful

We spent the week being the annoying person wrong legging it non stop and getting placed! How we where 7th in the novice 133cm shp after going on the wrong leg for both loops in our show, 10th in the equifest 133cm after going on the wrong leg 3 times in front of judge on go round (being a grey we are quite rememerable) we got it together in the end 4th in the 4,5,6 shp class (only a small blip) then 2nd in hp 133cm shp doing the set show we thought we'd completely mess up! Apart from eug vanishing a reappearing we had an enjoyable week
Is it tru Betsy is leaving to go to ponies uk?

As I said earlier I had a fab time with the pony however just one thing that got on my nerves was one of the judges in a SHP section (I know its only one judge out of how ever many are booked) just a little gutted that i had paid the money to have the judge watch the class next door and make a mistake in the placings because she missed a wrong leg! sorry dont mean to rant just thought i would see if anyone else thought the same? It was the judge in the Restricted SHP classes on the Friday

I had a wonderful time, I came 11th in the novice worker!! 1 mark from a rosette and 9 from the winner, absolutely over the moon as 2 years ago he was putting the breaks on 3 strides out with nothing I could do about it! I also had a great score of 29.5 in eventing dressage but 2 poles in the worker phase, if anybody has the full placings and scores I would love to work out where I came! X

We too had a good time, apart from breaking down on drive, no trouble seen or heard. Children well behaved and enjoyed their week. Its a shame a minority spoil it for majority and give the show a bad name.We also had very good results with our baby show pony behaving well in the evening performance and gaining a respectable third, star for the future.

I have to say we had a fantastic time - treat it like our holiday and we had great fun with fantastic friends - my boy was amazing - he took everything in his stride and came come with some fantastic results which where beyond my wildest dreams - i spent most of the week in tears i was so proud of him!
I can only imagine the time and effort it takes to run such a show and i thought the organisation was super! I do agree a small minority do let others down - but we ourselves had a fantastic week and met no negotivity.

Had a great week at Efest, great results, good judges, friendly stewards and met some lovely competitors . One thing that let it down for us was, we booked a red a stable , this was confirmed before the show, we only use the working hunter rings so a great place to park, I also take a disabled child with me so it helps to be nearer the rings. When we arrived on Wed pm , I was told that all the stables in red a had been taken, I was parked in red b, very nice but such a long way to walk with all the stuff and push a pram. I wonder why they bother to allocate stables in the first place?

We had the best time ever at Equifest - this was our 4th time. We were in red B this time and Tia seemed so much more settled there. She doesn't normally lie down when we're away but she laid down every night this time - the stables were slightly bigger there... . We got 2nd in the ridden rescue, 6th in the in hand rescue and 10th in the ridden veterans. We also took part in the parade of rescue horses on Thursday evening. Sooo proud of my girl - we had an absolute ball. Well done to the organisers for another fabulous show xxx
