If it is being judged on colour, it must be a colour and markings class. Then am afraid it's just judges preference

if its colour and markings then it will go on how evenly matched the markings are each side , how defined the colour is , and how clean the colour is , ie no mottling of white hair in the colour

I've never heard of a class judged purely on colour. Surely any showing class is as much about conformation and way of going as about evenness of colour distribution?

I've heard of this at some local shows, I'm sure it's just the judge's preference nothing to do with evenness of colour (but isn't any showing class down to judge's preference?)
