Ours is a short coupled 14hh big shouldered connie. Weatherbeeta and Shires have been suggested to me, wonder what you all use

I too like weatherbeeta they fit well round shoulders and necks. Also have shires summer which is good. And masta. Unfortunately the more expensive makes are the better fit but you get what you pay for

Our highland is in a rambo optimo - when he needs rugging - and it fits his shape really well without moving. I agree with Melons in that you do get what you pay for, I was lucky and found one second hand as would have been really reluctant to spend that much on a rug not knowing if it what going to be any good longer term.

I can say not masta, I recently purchased one for my very wide section C wouldn't even close at the front so I am on lookout for a turnout rug for wide ponys too.

Thankyou all for replies!! It's difficult isn't it? I'd like to save some money and buy second hand, however wondering if we bought one from our saddlers would they take it back if it doesn't fit, I think most likely it would be a no!! I am probably going to settle on Weatherbeatta, it's just with him being short coupled don't want him drowning in rug!!

Bought a Weatherbeeta Freestyle turnout rug for my very broad Section C and fits a treat. Also, I know it's a cheaper brand but the JHL rugs fit him well.

Premier equine fit wide horses really well and are nice and deep! No slipping or rubbing either. X

If you don't mind waiting a bit for delivery, I've found the Derby House turnouts fit our highland best, usually some good offers on. Just that delivery can be slow.

I agree re Premier Equine rugs, we have one and it is lovely. It isn't his rug though and its a 6'3" - although fits him lovely round the shoulders it's a tad long. Does in an emergency though! We had Derby House rugs for our large Hack and they were lovely, hadn't considered them for the connie!!

Finally got sorted!! An acquaintance got in touch who sells new and second hand rugs and she's been brilliant, let me take loads and try them first! We've ended up with a 6'6" Shires turnout for our full up 14.2 connie fits him beautifully in all the right places (he's huge a proper leg in each corner type, big bum massive front and shoulders). For the 14hh connie also big big shoulders we've ended up with a Loveson 6'3" medium weight turnout perfect fit and a 5'9" Weatherbeatta turnout. The Loveson and the Shires are both standard necks. It's totally bonkers the difference in the fit between brands which doesn't help unless you are able to try before you buy!! Thanks guys for your input, hope feedback is useful for others! x
