Why are the moderators of this site so quick to close threads and tell people to 'join' if they wish to post on here (if they have posted in the wrong section) for example the most recent one was someone asking for ideas on how to run a show and the thread got locked
yet when threads are running for weeks and weeks abouit individuals slating them and getting lots of facts wrong which often happens they seem to get left open!
really annoys me - its not life or death if someone posts in the wrong section is it??

Hi yes I was pretty niffed as just wanted to see what people thought whether being a good idea or not it was just a one of question that I wanted to ask so that's why I am a guest, Can nosey but don't need to be a member to have a read of results and I've seen posts going that shouldn't keep going.

. The guest area is really for members wishing to post about something controversial without putting their username to it. Read more: horsegossip.proboards.com/thread/189453/organising-show#ixzz3BhezjrDIAnd yet my post of what could be seen as a "controversial" subject, albeit my opinion, was swiftly locked and deleted as were subsequent posts. The reason given by Admin was : because we can!. It seems the rules appear to have a fluidity to them.

To be fair you could join and simply copy your original question (if you haven't already) And I'm sure you'd get lots of replies. Your original post has not been removed so will be easy to copy and paste. If it's a one off question and you have no desire to join and become part of the community it doesn't seem fair somehow to post as a guest to get what effectively becomes Market research no matter how well intended

I think it is prett common for forums to require registration prior to posting. There are just too many whackjobs around I rather like the idea of a nice, civilized place to exchange thought. If it's too much to bother with registration then maybe your question isn't quite so urgent. Afterall the people responding put a lot of time and thought into their replies. It's surely not too much to ask for the two minute process of registering here?

If folk are unhappy about the rules of Horse Gossip. then I suggest you can start up your own site. Then you can make your own rules. I may be wrong but the moderators are volunteers, and do not run Horse Gossip for a job or financial gain.

I'm not aware of the offending post but as has been said, feel free to join and post in the relevant section.

I have joined and now waiting approval, I only wanted one question not as market research this was to see if people thought it would be a good idea and would be up for supporting a new show in 2015 in the north west, When I am a member I will re- post the question. If the guest part is for people to hide behind petty names to post ridiculous comments that are normally moaning about someone or some show then I do not think that should allowed, I thought the guest posting area was for guests who were not members..

i understand that people give up their time to do this and volunteer but in my opinion half of them (not all) act like 'jobs worths' half the time, and seem to be on a power trip! im suprised this thread hasnt been locked or deleted!!

Perhaps the next time we are looking for mods, you should put yourself forward since you obviously feel you could do a better job. It's not as easy as it may appear!

I do think the mods allow an awful lot through that wouldn't be tolerated on the likes of H&H forums so the ability to let of steam is better here than most places
I'm a mod on a different forum. its an incredibly hard job to get a balance of threads and sifting the stirrers from the genuinely aggrieved, the threads in the wrong place, the inappropriate subjects, the potentially libellous and the threads that may be regretted by the OP in the sober cold light of day whilst trying to allow as much free speech as possible is a really tricky job

Only the mods see the numerous communications that go on 'behind the scenes' which aren't for public viewing but which may influence the removal/editing of a particular thread/post.
Trust me, the mods try very hard to get it right every time but we are only human. However, rest assured, everything we do is done with the very best of intentions.

Only the MODS see posts(archive etc), membership details and I.P Addresses, for past, current and new members. I guess they have seen all the old tricks, that the trolls try to use. I guess if they think the subject is going to be a long winded thread, then they would prefer you register and use the FREE service.
