There are quite a few on site. There is a Premier Inn and I think a Travel Lodge

We're booked into the Ibis at the airport - scarily cheap so not expecting it to be top notch!

I've stayed in premier which was lovely nut last few years we've stayed at travelodge Birmingham airport. Not sure what they're charging now bi put if u book early around April may its £19 per night for a family room. Newly built so clean and bright with a bar and restaurant. Only about 7 mins drive This year as hubbi coming too to watch our daughter we've treated ourselves to the Hilton which will be lovely but highly recommend the travelodge x

We're booked into the Ibis at the airport - scarily cheap so not expecting it to be top notch! We always stay in the Ibis and it's fine and so easy to get into NEC. you just walk into the airport and get the free shuttle which runs every few minutes straight into the NEC.

We're flying down this year so it made sense to take advantage of the good price.....it does mean shopping will be kept to a minimum though

We stayed at the Premier Inn last year for one night (Tuesday). We booked it the day before and it cost £98.00 I think. It also included a lovely breakfast which was very welcome before leaving for the Nec. The reception staff were very helpful, phoning for taxi's ect.

We're booked into the Ibis at the airport - scarily cheap so not expecting it to be top notch! I've stayed at the Etap quite a few times flying to Birmingham for various things and it's basic and even cheaper than Ibis but pleasant though the last time we stayed there in February, it was being taken over by Ibis I think as we went into the Ibis for a few drinks. Your only really there to sleep so doesn't need to be super luxurious. I stayed there for 3 nights when I went to HOYS in 2012 and it did the job just grand for less than £60 a night

If anyone has a caravan there's a fabulous club site just one junction down from NEC.

I've been looking at B&Bs near Coventry, found some for £19 per night and from the pics they look clean and tidy, and some of them are only 15-20 mins from the NEC !

Very little around that's affordable for Saturday night! Fortunately I managed to get the last 2 rooms in a modern travel inn type hotel -can't actually remember which, but it's a few miles away. Note to self - next time book the hotel in the pre-sale period when buying tickets!!

Or you could bring your own horsebox, park in the car park other side of railway line, this will save you a lot of money as well a bit of money to spend shopping.

I've stayed in Travelodge near tam worth on M40, that was about £45 and 20 mins away. I've also stayed at Travelodge near the airport which is ten mins drive and is about £55 usually but when I looked for the tues night it was £100 but a lot less for rest of week!! Ive also done Hilton at NEC which was £160 but that was a treat!!!

I've become a bit of an expert on this over the years - and definately the earlier you book the better. If you look for when Travel Lodge or Premier Inn are having their promotions you can sometimes get a room at a Travel Lodge for £29. Have stayed at Sheldon and Fort Dunlop (Sheldon is nearer and easier). Last year managed to get Premier Inn for £59 for 2 of us which was brilliant, closest we have ever been. This year prices seemed to be blocked at high rate since June but have booked Innkeepers Lodge at Coleshill for £49 (think they may be fully booked now) and Holiday Inn for the other night. Would have been stupid money but having been away on business regularly all year the points I have gained have covered it - so brilliant!! If she has transport advice would be go for a Travel Lodge there are 3 reasonably close. Found Coleshill by accident last night as having landed at Birmingham ended up driving round the NEC and Airport about 3 times in an attempt to get out! as the roads are all closed! Seems pretty close to NEC so you could try there.

The Etap beds are definitely not comfy! if anyone has a camper or caravan there is a lovely campsite at meriden. We used a taxi from there to NEC cost about £8. no trouble parking or going on shuttle buses. Straight to the door.

I hope you're wrong now that Ibis has taken it over - it does say "Furnished with our new Sweet Bed by ibis bed and bedding" so that sounds as if all the beds have been replaced....fingers crossed!
