Long old day as predicted left at 7.15! Moreton staff and gate people are lovely and helpful however scheduling the HOYS A's to clash with the First Ridden was not good planning. They had to hold the HOYS class and although then allowed ponies in and out the ring, changing bridles and jockey's was frenetic! Congrats to all who got those last tickets and well done to Tanya Shields and Team Starkie for winning the B's but so sad for Eleri and Moelview Prince Charming who were 2nd again and on equal points - gutted for you. Biggest Congratulations to the lovely little Charlotte who came from the back line to win the A's on Thistledown Special VIP and then went on the stand small breeds Champion. Totally deserved after a beautiful show, so pleased for Olly and Jo Burchall and bring on the party at HOYS.

Ah danniebmum! Now I know who you are! Enjoyed meeting you and chatting at ringside - hope your journey home was better than the one going! Ours was considerably quicker thank heavens! We had a spot of the '2 steps' in our halt (I blame Valegro!!) but were really pleased to be 4th in the B's, the boy certainly enjoyed his gallop! Well done with your results.

Please will someone enlighten me on what is going on with the d results? I think it's safe to say my whole family will be heart broken if our lovely queen of hearts hasn't actually won? The suspense is killing me!!!!

The suspense is killing me!!!! It must be a horrible to be in that situation. I hope the very least the organisers can do is contact your family FIRST if the marks have been added up incorrectly so the matter can be resolved in private before it hits social media. I hope the marks don't mean you lose your ticket as (although it's not deliberate) that must be one of the most horrible things to put someone through in the show ring.

I think there are a lot of rumours flying about that are not true. The only marks that I am aware of that were incorrect was the 143cm WHP class and this was highlighted at the show itself, and only affected the 1st and 2nd placed ponies.

As of yesterday neither the owner or rider of the pony that had been given first place had been contacted by the show. They only knew they weren't off to HOYs because of social media. The show should have made efforts to contact them as soon as it came to light.

The trouble is the Hoys D marks have still not been published which is causing the problem. Let's have the marks published this would stop the rumours. It's not hard is it?

Am I reading the marks sheets wrong because 3 ponies had a total of 94 marks yet the 3rd place pony (272)seems to have been on equal marks with the winner (598)scoring 68 each for phase one (and exactly the same in the other sections) whereas 2nd placed pony (597)had 67 for the first phase?

It does look from the score sheets as if 2nd and 3rd in the D class were on equal marks but then placed the wrong way round, but that's not a total disaster since it's the 1st placed cob that qualified - fingers crossed that's the case and placings can just be switched. Please ignore this, I read the situation incorrectly. Sorry!

In the Ds 2nd and 3rd are correct, it's the performance mark that takes preference

No idea how but I somehow read the marks incorrectly from what was posted on the show's site. Apologies to anyone I have misled :-X There has been confusion all along here as it seems some folk are talking about the 'M&M WHP' marks and some, the "Flat". Confusion and mixed messages is how wars begin. Hugely full 'marks'(!) to Guestless for her apology. However, (and here you have a person who NEVER usually bothers to retrospectively look at a Show's 'marks') I HAVE looked at M-in-the-M, just beacuse there seems to be this extreme, hyped up confusion. And, because it is the last attempt of the season to gain that magic "Golden ticket" which so many consider is their divine right of passage. One thing is VERY clear. The FLAT marks (SHP as well as M&M, Adult as well as Mini) are, across the board, universally Low. Ponies winning, Qualifying for HOYS even, many on sub-90 marks. This doesn't represent the Judging in just one Section, as it is, as stated, right across the board at this venue. Which possibly - and here I say possibly, goes to show that, like it or loathe it, maybe the 'best' have already 'achieved'?? I think I might be looking for the proverbial "tin hat" now!!

Hi Caroline - not too sure about that as the classes were huge with some very good ponies forward who have still not qualified (sorry only talking about the Ridden M&MS). Can only speak for the Small breeds;A's & B's but these judges did really spread their marks. I think this links to another thread in the Guest area - here we have 2 judges who are not afraid to spread marks. Judges did pull in about top 10 and then a back line and ride judge RPJ asked for a very specific show and marked accordingly. We know as we fell foul of it in the small breeds when pulled in 3rd and pony was not going to play and we justifably got a very low ride mark! Did get top conformation mark so on another day could have even got placed but rightly did not as judge used his marks. This rewarding of shows also resulted in several ponies in all 3 classes moving from back line to places and in the A's pony from back line won after a practically faultless show. So for once love them or hate them the marks worked!!! This year there are several very established HOYS ponies particularly in the large breeds who will not partying in Birmingham. PS No tin hat needed!!!!

PS No tin hat needed!!!! I wasn't there but i think it's great when they set a show, definitely sorts the class out ! RPJ always sets good shows and his marking I think is very good and fair ! Annoying when they set shows and don't mark accordingly
