Im devestated.. put our 5 month old foal out with our little welsh mare ( usually an angel with the wee ones).. she decided to kick little man leaving a small laceration on his hock.. he was lame instantly and although he isnt as lame Today the hock and back of leg have swollen... im worried sick its going to cap.. i have hosed it but as you can imagine its not easy with a baby and a sore leg... any advice xxx

Once it has healed white vinegar just poured on - don't rub it in or will blister . It should be successful with a recently capped hock. I used it on a 4 year old with massive caps on both . They never returned.

at that age he will very likely heal ok, keep clean and soft, a bit of baby oil rubbed in once the cut has healed will help .

Aww thanks guys.. my vet said cold hose, bute and rest. After 20 mins if hosing this evening it has gone down... praying its nothing permanent xxx

I gave mine arnica tablets and rubed the gel in to the hock to take down the bruising and swelling and I went. If it doesn't go and you are showing him we used pile cream to shrink it

UPDATE...Pheeww... no capped hock.. its back to normal now xx
