im struggling to find some good long winter riding boots for my size- leg height is 40cm and i have fairly slim calfs so was wondering what brands people recommend.
I love the new Ariat Grasmere ones but looking through the size chart they would be miles to big for me!!
We have no good local shops that sell riding boots so was wondering what other boots you guys would recommend.
Im size 5. 5'3 in hight- i dont know my calf size exactly but im slim build.

I love my grasmeres. I have fairly slim calves too (13" I think) and I do have to tighten the lacing on the grasmeres right up, they are still a looser fit rather than snug like leather long boots but not to the point of being annoying/uncomfy. I pretty much live in them as I live close enough to the yard to walk (two or three visits a day!) as well as riding in them. Only thing I would say is although they are marketed as 'equestrian' boots, they don't really stand up to yard work - muddy fields and full on mucking out is not good for them (I do skip out, and wear them for most of the year up and down to the fields, but when the mud gets thick/sticky, I swap to willies for turn out/bringing in) My first pair got thoroughly used and abused when I was working at a riding school over the winter and were an absolute godsend, everyone else was talking about how many socks they had to wear to keep warm, and I was cosy and comfy as anything in my grasmeres with a single pair of ski socks They are generous - I am normally a 6, poss 6.5, but wear a size 5.5 Grasmere.

the ariat is fine. I am shorter than you and although they are looser than a riding boot, they are fine to ride in.
