Yes take it to the PO, they will weigh it, unless it's very light the parcel force will be the cheapest option. They offer 24 hour or 48 hour service. 48 hour will be around £12.98 and 24 hour is around £16. Can you tell I work in a post office lololol

Those prices will not cover the value if the saddle in case it gets lost though! That adds a significant amount on top.

Helle that price covers up to £100, the OP didn't say how much the saddle was worth........ The parcel is tracked all the way so the chances of it getting lost are very slim. For an extra £4 it will be covered up to £500. Not really a significant amount on top I wouldnt have said.

I always use a courier as found ParcelForce to be the most expensive (obviously depends on the weight/value but could never get a quote less than £18.00 from the P.O). I have sent 2 saddles this year with Ipost - both booked in with the courier late on Thursday evening, collected Friday & delivered before 10am Saturday, you also have the option to insure for the correct value, get it tracked & signed for.

Take some photos of the saddle before you parcel it up, just in case it acquires any damage in transit.

Definately send it in a box, not like some muppet that sent me a saddle wrapped in a towel in a bin liner!!!

I've sent 3 using Interparcel. All picked up and then delivered within 24 hours for around £10 - £12 each. Have paid extra to cover value once. The hardest bit is finding a box big enough

You can buy boxes from any of the Big Yellow/Access self storage type places, usually only a couple of quid for a saddle sized one.
