Have you tried Freestep Lamalert. I used it on my Section B mare who had a very cresty neck and it worked!!! Speak to them at Freestep.

Hi I would be very wary of using a neck sweat as this can ultimately cause the crest to fall if it is done too quickly - Very much like someone losing weight fast - They can end up with flabby or saggy bits because the weight loss has not been progressive - Think that the best best way to do it is through diet and lots of exercise Slowly so that it is not a shock to the ponies system therefore will not cause complications later on.

Neck sweats cause the pony to lose fluids, therefore risk dehydration. It's fat that your pony needs to lose, not water. Diet and exercise are what's needed, not neck sweats.

Don't like them and must be uncomfortable for the pony.

We used a neck sweat for the first time ever this year and it did appear to work (it's a bit like a seaweed wrap!!!), however, as the previous posters have commented you do run the risk of dehydrating the pony so slow and steady should be the order of the day and not used as a quick fix. The freestep programme is also very good but the pony does tend to lose body weight fro all over.

Ive used a neck sweat on a cresty lead rein before, he already had a neck tilting over when i bought him! unfortunately ive tried many things over 3 years to reduce his crest and nothing seemed to shift or help it, i regard a big crest as laminitis waiting to happen (insulin resistant or ems) , which the pony should be treated as such, lots of work, restricted grazing and sugar free diet! 3 years on no neck changes but a healthy pony which is the most important thing xx

Lamalert did nothing to help reduce my horses fat pads and cresty neck, however it did reduce my bank account considerably...........
