Hi
My 19 year old Arab has just been xrayed today as he has been on and off lame and I wanted to get to the bottom of it and the x-ray's have shown he has arthritis I have been advised to put him on nutriquin joint supplement that you can only buy from the vets just wondered has anyone had any luck with it and does it make the horses less stiff.
Thanks

I had to do some searching as I am in the U.S. and have not heard of Nutraquin. It is a product made by Nutravet in the UK. www.nutravet.co.uk/horses/nutraquin-plus-450gI don't understand why it is prescription only. Anything they list, including Boswelia can be bought OTC here, in the U.S. Unless it's the strength of each dosage that prevents it from being something I could order thru a veterinary supply catalog without a prescription. That said, every horse is different. Your horse may respond beautifully to this product, not at all, or somewhere in-between. It is certainly safe to try but, I'll bet it's expensive:( so you might want a Plan B that is a lot cheaper. Where is the arthritis? I have one horse with a hunter's bump who does very well on plain old Glucosamine. Glucosamine did not work on my horse with hock/ankle arthritis but Liquid Hylauronic Acid did. Then there is plain MSM for inflammation issues. If you can afford a 30 day supply, you will know in that amount of time if this Nutraquin will help your horse; if it doesn't there are a lot of other products that, sooner or later, you will hit one that will:) Please update if you put your horse on the Nutraquin:)

I have my horse on nutriquin joint supplement which was advised for my horse over twelve months ago due to him having osteoarthritis in his coffin joints . I am pleased with the results we are getting although you never know the true benefit of a product unless u take them back off it and see a difference . Nutriquin is expensive to start off with for the first 35 days as it is a double dose and then drops to a small dose . I wouldn't say it is expensive as the tubs are around £56 and last a good few months .
