I was wondering are there any ways you can check the breeding of a show hunter? I was told my horse is a half-brother to a successful show hunter in UK but all I can find out (from IHB/ISH registers) are the UELN numbers of the mares progeny, no names. My horses dam is "Carriglen Bard" owned by J Gahan Wexford. His sire is "Insatiable" TB standing in Wexford but previous foals out of his dam were by "Tassett", one "Tassett Skye" I found on British Eventing. But I cant find similar information on any show horses. Any info on show hunter, or possibly working hunter, breed registers would be helpful. I would love to hear about my lads half brother! Thank you

As far as I know there are no breed registers for show/working hunters as such - they are a type and not a breed.

Thank you everyone, I suppose I thought there'd be some type of website like BSJA or BE where all horses are listed, and you can find out breeding, placings etc. And also I suppose she could have been a working hunter, I really don't know. But if you ever hear of a horse out of Dam 'Carriglen Bard' Id love to know.thanks again

You can search the Irish horse database using the dam as well. Or search by stallion. That should give you all progeny that foaled and microchiped.

Hi yes Ive done that, but the ISH database books only gives UELN no when the foal is first registered by the breeder. They don't show the names unless the breeder gives them a name, and not many do, only those with prefixes usually. When they are named later it doesn't go on the database, so I cant just look them up and get their names, to enable me to search UK show entries.
