Hi, i am currently using gel bit guards at home on my whp's neue shule universal bit as when we jump without them he always gets cuts on his mouth. We have also tried putting vet rap on the bit but it doesnt seem to work as well. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what i can use for at shows as i ideally dont want to have chunky bit guards on when competing aha. Thank you!!

Have you tried latex bit wrap rather than vet wrap? You can get it on eBay its in a green box. It goes on like a thin covering of rubber and you can put as much/little on as you want and you don't need to reapply it every time you use it just when it gets a bit grubby.

I had one years ago who got rubbed by the bit when he first arrived, and also grew very weak hoof horn. Started feeding him a balancer to correct any nutritional deficiencies in his diet and his skin toughened up so the bit no longer rubbed. Hoof horn improved no end as well.

Ahh thankyou, will try that!! Just wanted something more discreet for when competing.
