I feel the need to share this story as I am absolutely gobsmacked. Over the weekend my young colt (8 months) was enjoying some free time in a grass paddock he shares with my gelding. This paddock is also used by one of the YO's ponies (a mare) when my two are not out (I must emphasise the WHEN MY TWO ARE NOT OUT PART). Having completed all my jobs I was just pottering about when I noticed said YO's pony was not in it's stable and one of the girls who looks after it was returning from the direction of the paddock where my two were out. I asked her where the said pony was- her resonponse "oh I put her in with your two"!!! Needless to say I scurried to the paddock to get the colt in immediately then approached her. I politely said to her that the mare could not go out with my two due to one being a colt and I certainly do not want any accidents happening (must add I am just waiting for them to "drop" then he will be cut). She gave me the most disgusting look and said "oh well he hasn't tried anything"!! I am really disgusted, I thought i was being a sensible owner with him and there are people who go and do that!!! Words cannot describe how annoyed I am!! Am I being too oversensitive here or, as I think is correct, do i have good reason to be annoyed!!!

Yes there are really people that stupid they get everywhere and walk this earth to make is feel intelligent. Away from horses, I had a friend who trained dogs and he made a house visit to two dogs who's behaviour was get out of had and too boisterous. Now this is serious and people really did mean it. As they were twelve months only and a dog & a bit*h he suggested much of the problem was hormones etc if you catch my drift. "What should we do then?" they asked "get them off to vet and have one or the other or both seen to so you don't end up with pups" .. genuinely horrified and shocked "Oh no don't be silly they wont do anything like that they are brother and sister" He doesn't train dogs anymore ... he got sick of having to deal with people!!!

perhaps she missed out on sex education at school! Have a word with the YO and advise them of what happened. I hope this is not the case with your boy, but I had a colt who had to be operated on as one testicle was wrapped around his intestine... very expensive!
