Looking to know whether a non native yearling can be shown in an in hand bitted bridle or a leather halter?

Thankyou leevale. Our little man may prefer a halter for the time being. Is that acceptable?

A leather in-hand show slip with a browband would look smarter than a halter, and yes it is perfectly acceptable to show a yearling filly or gelding unbitted. I wouldn't show a colt unbitted though.

We showed our yearling colt in a leather showing slip for the whole of his yearling year mainly because we thought it would be frowned upon to use a bit. He is a NNP to mature around 13.2 so not big and if I was showing a larger colt I would be using a bridle with a bit.

It's about control really and what you're comfortable with, he was never strong in his slip so bitting him never crossed our mind really.
