Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong section.
A friend of mine has just bought (5 months) a sweet little black 14.2hh all rounder. He is about 7/8 years old. Quite green but willing to learn. He does seem to have a slightly hyper personality - he rushes everything.
He is a bit of a bully in the field (beats up a giant 16.3 heavy horse) so he is currently out on his own.
My question is he seems to have an odd OTT attachment to his owner. not even other horses. He neighs to her practically screaming even though he has been fed, has water, has rugs on - isn't too hot or too cold. has been out in the field. has other horses in the barn, has been ridden. nothing left for him to want but just screams at her.
Has anyone experienced this before. know a way to stop it or reduce it? if he is worrying or anxious about something what might it be. We are at a bit of a loss as to what is going on in his head.
any ideas?
thanks in advance.

My gelding does this everytime he sees me, he seems happy in himself but I'd like to know his reasoning for it. My other horse, a mare and a youngster, doesn't do it all the time just occasionally when I first get to the yard or I go to fetch her in from the field

Out of my 3 ponies my 4 yr old home bred RP filly is the most laid back and chilled out but she is very chatty and will "talk" to me constantly. She is in no way stressed or hyper. When I get home from work and get out the car if she is grazing up the field she will look to me an neigh but wont come over , it's like she's just saying hello!!! She has been like it since she was born and in fact neighed more or less as soon as she came out!! Think some are just more talkative than others

If this doesn't effect him otherwise, I wouldn't worry but I do wonder if he could do with a bit more company? Being part of the herd might well settle him. If he is a bully, he may be better with one non-threatening friend, or out with a few so he has to fit into a pecking order.

Sounds like he has been weaned early or hand reared and may have arab in him lol? Defo try to find equine company who can safely teach him equine social interaction/ pecking order.
