Have had an enquiry for a part livery and just wondered what peaple expect to pay and what services are wanted, I know each one is different according to needs. My daughter, who is currently doing her BHS exams, is planning to open a yard at home. We will provide all year turnout which could be restricted in winter due to weather, hay/haylage, apparently the horse which is 16.3 ID eats a large bale in 2 weeks, straw bedding, hot water for washing, heat lamps/solarium, hard feed to be provided by owner, will be around for farrier/vet if required, live on site and individual care. We are based directly on the Penine Way and about 20 mins away from a UK Chasers xcountry and the same from a xcountry schooling place. Also less than 2hrs from top affliated centres and some unaffliated venues. The client works away from home on occasions so this would be covered as would holidays. Had considered her doing mornings and prepaing horse for turnout as she sometimes rides at 6am, lso maybe her doing weekends as my daughter competes. Has anybody any suggestions on realistic prices as don't want to overcharge! Horse is most important!! Meant to say we don't have a menage but do have flat well drainning fields, but client does fun rides, long distance etc. Sorry this is long winded and hope it makes sense Daughter is experienced doing SJ and WH HOYS level etc

I've had part livery for £450 (I live in south west london, very expensive for yards:(...) I got all feed and hay and bedding provided by the yard. I had turn out individually in the mornings and brought in at night, I had rugs changed, hold for farrier ect, I also had use of a 40x20 rubber arena with plastic jumps... I do say it was over priced slightly but thats due to the area, but it was basically everything except the riding.
If she's giving you feed, I have no idea what the prices are like in scotland, but guessing alot cheaper.. but having hot water, solarium and on site supervision.. I wouldn't say be expensive, but I would say don't be dirt cheap.. theres a yard down my road that doesn't have an arena and just has a stable barn and turnout, they only want £100 a month.. but then you've got extras + on site! Calculate how much more water it would cost you and how much more electricity it would use, then work out how much time you'd have to put in for the horse ie for assisted DIY they often add little things on like free turn out at weekdays but £3 a day for turn out at weekends, and £3 to bring in.. £2 to use the big hose to wash+shampoo, £13 for full day cover (turn out muck out bring in).. just work out an hourly rate you would pay yourself and then work out how long you'd have to be spending on the extra horse!!! Hope thats helpful, sorry I mumbled on!
