Hi,
I have purchased a pony who is ready to come out and compete in HOYS qualifiers but my question is in the passport says no vaccinations. I am going to have vet down asap but hoys says must be fully vaccinated, after first jab is it then 6 weeks and then 6 month time and then after this yearly is it? Been a while since had to start a ponies vaccinations from scratch but we are wondering if pony does collect ticket then it will have first jab in few weeks time or before when we can be fitted in, then waiting the 6 weeks would be around June time so 6 months from June would be December this means pony is not fully Jabbed up until December. Anyone else ever had this problem with a pony and vaccinations just want someone to clarify if would be allowed to compete at hoys or not after having the start of the vaccinations?
Sorry if im confusing, confusing myself.

I'm not sure I'd even be competing it without its full vaccinations. Its not worth it you don't want to pick anything up and bring it back to the yard either.
I'm sure your vets could advise

Thank you we would of have started the vaccinations before taking the pony out and don't really want to wait until December, but i will ask vet and see what they say about it as been a long time since had one without them already. thank you

I bought a pony which had qualified RI last year 10 days before show whose jabs I found had run out!! Thankfully we weren't going anyway but I've had to start them again.
Mine will be having her 3rd jab in April then her 6 month one will be October. This is when her annual will be then due. My vet advised me that I was fine for this under fri rules.

You don't need to wait as long as 6 weeks after the first vaccination, you can get it done 3 weeks after which would move your dates up a bit. My understanding is that it's the first two vaccinations that are "the course" and the third one is a booster albeit it's done within 6/7 months of the second jab. I think FEI rules have something about not competing until 7 days after the second jab so worth checking this out to make sure you don't fall foul of any showgrounds that operate under those rules.

Yes it's normal that you can compete after the second, then you keep within dates , so have one now then the second just after 21 days, then your good to go! Then the third 6 months later, then within a year every year.

Once youve had the 2nd jab after 7 days under FEI rules you are covered.
