Hi all wondering if anyone could help I have a Welsh b 13.1 ish arriving tomorrow and would like to do flat and workers with him. He would be in the second/middle height of fences restriction for the small breeds and am wondering what height everyone else jumps at home practicing with similar ponies. He will be in novices this season also by the way:). Wondering who pushes their ponies to see how big they can jump or generally jumps them a fair bit bigger than show height or just jump a tiny big bigger at home and how regularly if bigger thanks in advance Also I am looking for a 5 strand plaited pony size browband for this pony and size 5 oxblood jod boots if anyone is selling as I haven't had a pony for years!

I'm not in the same situation (my horse is 17.2hh and I compete her in BS competitions!) but I would never regularly jump her over massive fences even though she is capable. I use our training at home to build her confidence as she's quite young and inexperienced, and to make sure she's able to cope with whatever she'll meet at shows. So more smaller, technical courses and grids - to give you an idea I'm just moving her up to Newcomers (1.10/15m) and I usually jump her over 1.00/1.05 fences at the most at home. Occasionally we put them up or use v poles to make sure she's clearing the height but not very often. Good luck and enjoy your new pony!

Every person ive had jumping lesson off and people I know who compete workers/sj all say you should be jumping 10cm bigger than you would be jumping when competing, that doesn't mean jumping it everyday of the week

Personally i wouldnt go too big , but would practice over the TYPE of fence that you might get in a worker ,,,, style , water tray, brushes , etc ,,, get the technique right over smaller fences first ,,, good luck
