I bought a 'deluxe' thorn saddle pad for my shetland, i absolutely love it! Tonight i put it on my 13,2 show pony as she hasnt gt a saddle at the mo and i want her bringing back into work. I used it with a thick wool numnah and it looked good on her. She is quite sensitive through her back due to having ill fitting saddles in the back but she went really well in the thorn, im debating getting her a 16''. She has a really awkward shape and no saddles ever seem to fit her but the thorn looked great on her. I couldnt really justify spending out on a saddle fitter (at the mo anyway) Does anyone else use thorns for less 'round' ponies?

Hi I mainly use it on too round ones, our section A & Dartmoor. But did also used to use it our SHP as had a hard time getting a saddle to fit & he has a wither and is narrower than the others, but went beautifully in it. I use an acavello gel pad edge in sheepskin under ours.

Thanks for your reply. Yes my pony has a slight wither too but it does appear to fit her nice and she went really well with it on. Think I'll most likely get her one too
