I know this is a daft question, but I hope an IT whizz can help.
Last week I had my Paypal account hacked and they also attempted access my Hotmail account using the correct password. I was informed of this in an email from Microsoft. I am very careful about phishing emails and don't think I have accidentally given out any password.
I was actually using the computer while they were spending my money, so noticed the emails coming in. I rang Paypal right away and it was sorted so I didn't lose any money. I have changed my passwords.
Since then, I have noticed on at least 2 occasions that random music/film track starts playing through my speakers. The only way to stop it is to close down websites that are open. I have Norton anti-virus installed. Is this a virus? What do I have to do?
I would be most grateful for any advise.

Hi there, chances are you have a virus which is why the Pop ups are appearing. You need to check that your anti-virus is up to date and make sure that your computer does regular updates and scans.
I would get your computer checked and get someone to show how to make sure updates are done.
Remember, never ever click on something you're not certain of. However, tempting!

You could change your operating system from microsoft to ubuntu which is a similar system to apple,it's all open source which means it doesn't have to be paid for and it is a lot harder for hackers etc to get into. After having my hotmail account hacked I ditched it and microsoft and-up to now-haven't had any more bother.

I use nothing but Apple equipment now. No paid for virus subscriptions and no virus's either. I also think you need to get your comp checked as it does sound like a virus.

Thank you for your help. Anti virus software is all up to date and my computer seems to be back to normal. I have never heard of Ubuntu, but I will look into getting this.
