What does anyone think about halting for a few seconds in the middle of a first ridden show? Would that get more marks for show or not? We already get very high ride marks but want to get a few more.

This isn't usual and as a judge, not something that would particularly appeal to me. Obedience and safety are important and I guess halting illustrates this, but I think you can tell enough on a more straightforward show. Also, this might add considerably to the time taken to judge the class. Unless circumstances are extreme (e.g. v big, v busy show) I prefer to let the children do their own show so as not to throw them, so anything that takes longer than this would be a no-no for me!

Also a judge may wonder if the pony has slid to a halt as a way of napping. ...too risky
