We've just brought a new pony and my son would like the passport to be in his name, does anyone know the minimum age for this? Have tried looking online but have found answers to everything but this!

What type of pony have you bought and what type of passport has it got? E.G.is it a Welsh pony already registered with wpcs, (green passport)? Whichever authority/society issued the original passport should be the one to contact regarding the minimum age of the registered owner. Hope this helps.

obviously check with the passport issuer but in general a person under 16 years old cannot buy a pet and cannot be held responsible for the actions of one so i would imagine that will give you an idea

We bought a Native pony - possibly our Fell - & owner had to be 18 or over so you would need to check with the relevant breed/passport society.

I'm sure WPCS allow ponies to be registered by juniors as long as they are members. But then they may have changed this as they have changed several rules over the last few years v

Thankyou for all your replies, I did think would be a minimum of 16 but I will contact the breed society to check, didn't think to do that!
