How do you get a horses weight without a weigh bridge? I've an 11.2hh welsh pony who could do with losing abit of weight. On my spillers weigh tape she's 247kgs which isn't too bad for her size & build but then I measured her girth & length using a horse weight calculator & she only measures 226kgs! So basically theres a bag of feed weight difference. Anyone know how to get a better estimate please?

Learn to condition score instead of worrying about the weigh tape and only use that to check weight lose/gain progress.

i agree body condition scoring is the best way to assess your horses weight.
i use a weight tape to monitor basic changes in weight, but i doubt the numbers are accurate
