Hi, I've just sold a saddle on eBay and need to post it. How do people package them up and what couriers do people use? it's an 18 inch dressage saddle so quite bulky! TIA :-)

I sent a saddle to Saddles Direct not so long ago, I wrapped it in lots of bubble wrap and put it in a big box with screwed up newspaper to stabilise it. I sent it via Royal Mail which cost me about 25 quid. I have since enquired about sending another with MyHermes and it is only 5 30 ( obviously depending on the weight of the item ) and about 3 pounds to insure it, so I thought this was much better value. You just have to go on their website and pay for a label. Hope this helps x

I too have sent saddles many times via Parcel Force - Personally I would run a mile from Hermes - yes inexpensive but takes forever to arrive and very unreliable in my experience!! Usually takes many more days to arrive than they say too. I pack in a strong box, with plenty of bubble wrap so that it is firm and can't rattle about! Plenty of tape around the box too, and very clearly addressed!! Always 'signed for' delivery and I have never had a problem!

I send them via 'ipost', usually £10ish depending on amount insured & signed for. Excellent collection/delivery times & free for Saturday deliveries. I have booked parcels in with them on Thursday evening, collected Friday & delivered hundreds of miles away before 10am on Saturday!

I sold my saddle and sent it via Myhermes, excellent service, you can follow it online, arrived within four days, and compared to other sources I found them very competitive on price, well recommend. Definitely need a big box and plenty of packaging and to be safe I went for 10kg plus weight and still found them cheaper than others.
