Well being too fat doesn't do anything for their development, however achieved.

That wasn't what I asked! Its not good for them to be too thin either. Was just looking for advice for a friend, who has rescued a youngster.

Hi Ziggy - I recently used Top Spec's nutrition help-line. The lady who replied to my email was incredibly helpful. I would thoroughly recommend them!

Agreed re Top Spec.
Ziggy - please don't mutter at me for replying to what is usually asked - ie how do I get my pony fat for showing - when you haven't given proper information in the first place. Most ponies at this time of year are too fat if anything on just grass. It's much healthier for them to be on the thin side than too fat.

Well said Sarahp, ours only go out for a few hours a day but we have loads of grass and three of them are on diets, and these are colts that spend lots of time playing.
Ziggy's friend appears to have a different type of problem, though, Ziggy I have found that Calm and Condition is a revelation for adding condition and general allround wellbeing, this was for a late developing 4 year old just starting his ridden career.
Btw well done to your friend for rescuing her youngster x
