CHAPS classes were a joke! Good morning Arrongorn, whoever you are. Perhaps you would like to expand on this bold statement?
Appreciably the ridden section ran later than would have been preferred, but one feels that is not what you're intimating.

Hi Caroline, I am not one to comment much but do feel I have to mention the state of the stables when we arrived. And hope you will be addressing this with those who arrange the jumping before hand. Personally I would like to see you push them for some type of compensation and this could be put to help reduce the cost of stabling as I think most would agree £85 for one night stable is steep but to then arrive to have to deck the stable (I'm not even saying muck out as they were disgusting) Other than that we had a good show! and thanks for your work organising, the stables just let it down which I know is not your fault but I think this needs to be raised for next year.

Thanks for a lovely show, my 5 year old daughter was thrilled in the m&m lr getting 9th (joint 8th on marks) in only our 2nd hoys qualifier with our darty. Winner and 2nd in our class were fabulous! :-) and well done to our friend Ellie Simmonds for getting her first ever hoys ticket in fr m&m on Birchmoor Admiral, there were a few tears shed at the ringside! :-) x

"Bunglewungle" - I thank you for the fact that your post is very mannerly, civilised and indeed factual, BUT it goes without saying that I did not have a stable booking in the name of "Bunglewungle".
We were utterly horrified at the state of many of our stables which had been left by Scottish Showjumping competitors.
Naturally this situation HAS already been addressed.
The yard in the compound at the front of the stable blocks were those erected by and used for the Scottish Showjumping event and that event then hired some from the SHS.
Edited to add: on a private e-mail to me the question has been raised - 'is Scottish Showjumping and the SHS the same company? The answer is most definitely not. The Scottish Horse Show is a Charitable Organisation with a small, hardworking Committee of volunteers, whilst Scottish Showjumping is, to the best of my knowledge, a Ltd. Company. There is no connection any more than - say - the BSPS (British Show Pony Society) to British Showjumping (formerly the BSJA).
Over the course of the weekend event, SOME SJ competitors also helped themselves to other SHS boxes not allocated to them by Scottish Showjumping, which compounded the 'muck' problem..
That is that part.
Next, the cost of the SHS Stables.
As I have said all along, the cost reflects the extortionate hire costs from the Stable hire company. There are not many of these companies in the UK so it goes without saying that they are able to charge - but in fairness they have massive overheads too (labour, transportation, erection, dismantling, repairs . )
The SHS not only underwrote the costs to the exhibitor but provided FREE straw, so we went some way to offsetting the cost to the exhibitor. Some 'centres' have their own 'permanent' stabling so hirees do not have the additional costs of hiring in especially for one night.
Finally, if you were to contact me in your real name, the one in which you booked your stable/s, I will be able to refer to the booking and see which stable/s you occupied. Naturally, I have all the paperwork and the fully booked stable yard plan . . . . the clean unused boxes, the adequate, usable boxes - and the downright filthy and therefore absolutely unusable boxes. We, the SHS Stable team had to abandon the use of over 100 boxes.
As soon as the Showjumping event had finished, my two loyal friends (who gallantly and voluntarily came to the SHS from England specifically to support me in the Stable area) and I did a full audit early on Monday morning before anyone arrived for the SHS.
Edited to add, the heavens opened on Scotland and the North before the w/e and only abated on Monday so the damage was done - it did start to dry out following a nice day for the SHS.
"Bunglewungle" I await your contact - on behalf of the SHS am happy to discuss your situation.
Here is a reminder of the number which I use for SHS Stabling, 075 999 66 121. Or, caroline.nelson4@btinternet.com
This would be a professional way of addressing the situation and, in my humble opinion, is preferable to posting your thoughts (however politely) virally.
Thank you so much.
Caroline Nelson, SHS Stable Manager, Senior Steward WH Arena, sponsorship co-ordinator, provider of dressing material for the WH tracks - and general rubbing rag for stabling problems!
