Personally I would like to comment that myself and my daughters had a lovely time at the champs. It can't be easy to organise a show on this scale, all the staff were very patient and helpful. The entertainment for the children was super. Yes, the flooded stables and awful weather on day one was a bit of a trial but this was beyond the control of the bsps. Constructive comment is always good but I felt a bit of praise wouldn't go amiss.

Apologies, I did not set out to offend Where i get pony's names I will post them (and indeed did for the other results I posted) If I don't catch the name over the loudspeaker I will not post it, If I guess it and get the name or even the spelling wrong I get flack, its not worth it for what is essentially a voluntary thing.

Toaster I think we all really appreciate your results postings it is often the only way to be part of whats going on at a show.We have a few comments if we spell a name wrongly it seems to upset people unduly ! Keep up the good work

Yes Philippa your £10 would have been a bargain and a life saver if you had the misfortune of one young lady whose horse went vertical and fell over on top of her. The paramedics were with her in about 2 minutes arriving on a golf buggy and the ambulance in about 5 minutes. The care that they took in removing her off the ground was incredible. I hope she is recovering well in hospital. So never feel overcharged for first aid as next time it might me your child. It was me who had the fall and I couldn't agree more. The paramedics and also the doctor whose daughter was competing were great. Thank you I am now recovering well at home after a month in hospital with a broken vertebrae

As for names - Surely it is the PONY who is being shown, and giving the pony's name is the most important of the two, pony and rider? Wrong spelling is sometimes understandable, and better than not giving the name at all.

Toaster gives live updates voluntarily from lots of shows. If she misses a Pony's name because it's not clear over the loudspeaker does it really matter? Some names are difficult to write down anyway with predictive text and complicated prefixes and suffixes. Toaster if you are at HOYS please send updates with or without ponies names x Seriously guys, it's no wonder people stop bothering

Yes it really does matter! Well we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I fail to see why someone who gives up their time for free whilst at a social event in a bid to keep those of us not there updated should be criticised for not getting a pony's name especially at a show not catalogued. Let's keep criticising and then people just won't bother, I know I wouldn't.

I was not critising, rather the opposite as I said how understandably difficult it is to spell many of the names. But the result is the pony - just giving the rider, which may mean nothing at all, is not actually giving the result of showing ponies.
Just going now to catch up on hack's results from HOYS - ponies names given in full, not riders. Easy when there's a catalogue I know, but if you're telling your friends how other friends are doing rather than giving actual results, why not do it on a personal basis?

Gee... try and help and get shot in the foot! sarahp I'm usually pretty silent but to be honest, you're always upsetting someone.
Let's embrace the fact that there are people out there willing to take their time to try and provide people with information. And to be fair, anyone really interested would know who the pony/horse was just by knowing the rider's name 99% of the time...

I agree in lots of ways Sarah, there's nothing worse than seeing show results like 'Helen riding Benji won' when you don't know who Helen is or the stable names of many of the ponies but at the end of the day giving a riders name in full is information to at least some people, in the situation here the rider had been riding this pony during the season so many people would have known the pony even if I didn't catch the name and to me any information is better than none As you say HOYS is easier with clear announcements and a catalogue At arena UK the PA system has never been the clearest if you are sitting in certain spots Anyway back to the excitement of HOYS!

Thank you Toaster.
I never set out to upset anyone, but to help where I can, and am always polite - am I not allowed an opinion that not everyone else agrees with? Perhaps at my age, being primarily a breeder, and not getting out to many shows now I have a different perspective to some, but that doesn't make it invalid, and if it makes people look at something differently rather than close their mind surely that's a good thing?

I fully agree that it is wonderful to get any results at all, regardless of whether it includes full names. Even So-and-so's chestnut 12hander is usually enough to know pony being referred to.
I'm not even on the show circuit anymore and still know from following results threads for so long what ponies are being referred to by just the jockey's name or casual references given by people generous enough to post results from the ringside. I agree, SarahP that it is nice to give credit to the ponies as they are indeed the ones being judged but any results at all are good to me. People like Toaster genuinely help people like me follow shows without being on the circuit and I appreciate it so much.
Also find I learn who's riding for who moreso by more casual results posts than just formal ponies show names but I guess if I was on the circuit this season I'd know that. Well done to everyone who posts, many of us hugely appreciate it.
